Differentiate
Dear Fellows , This one is bothering me looong . Help me to understand it. Your answer will be relief to my starving small brain! Differentiate the diplomacy and Hypocrisy for me !
Diplomacy, you say what you have to say with manners and in a way that the person won't be hurt. Hypocrisy, you don't say anything but think less... Have a nice weekend ! Anna
Hmm ... Diplomacy - acting with tact toward another person or country, considering their feelings about a subject. Hypocrisy is when someone says or thinks they are being diplomatic and they are anything but.
Thanks so much for your visit. We are so saddened by the events here...Las Vegas, Puerto Rico, wildfires in California. It is relentless. Do you have good access to worldwide news? Thank you for your kind words in your comment.
Diplomacy should be at least two parties coming together to find a satisfactory result for both parties. Hypocrisy is saying or doing one thing while meaning or intending to do something else. In other words diplomacy helps most; hypocrisy might help the hypocrite but it does not matter to him if the others are helped or hurt.
Diplomacy is the skill of dealing with others in a way that does not hurt their feelings but gets the job done. Hypocrisy is acting contrary to one's stated beliefs--in other words, saying one thing but doing another.
We need much more diplomacy and much less hypocrisy in this world. Unfortunately, these days we are greatly suffering from the opposite, here and throughout the world. We must continue to pray for peace and justice. xx Karen
Jenny o has summed up very well. Diplomacy is given by someone who wants to keep the peace but hypocrisy is given by someone who does not have pure intentions I think
Diplomacy is the profession, activity, or skill of managing international relations, typically by a country's representatives abroad. Hypocrisy is the practice of claiming to have higher standards or more noble beliefs than is the case. Hope that helps.
Margaret's answer is perfect. Diplomacy can also mean "the art of dealing with people in a sensitive and effective way," so yes, it can also apply to individuals.
I think there is a very thin separating line between the two, dearest Baili. Some of those who appear to be diplomatic really have their own interests at heart. I suppose all we can do is look at their motives and make our own judgement. There are so many people (particularly politicians) who are such good pretenders when it comes to making others feel listened to...but then who subsequently turn out to be less than trustworthy in their actions. For me, it is a minefield.:/ So sorry I couldn't be more helpful in this, my Friend...

DeleteExcellent one!
I like Sharon's and Anna's definition so much that it is hard to improve upon them.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I try to always say what I think. But I try to say it in a calm, reasoned and sensitive way.
Some good answers here already Baili, interesting tough question. There is a fine line between the two.
ReplyDeleteDiplomacy---definitely, Baili.

DeleteYou have easen it more .
I think if hypocritics get any advantages with this cheapness they will be for while only and hypocritics have to face embarrassment anyhow later

Diplomacy brings caution to the discussion while Hypocrisy pretends to bring diplomacy while inserting lies.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Margaret, she defined them well.
ReplyDeleteSome great answers here, and I feel I cannot add to them.
ReplyDeleteA different post, and I enjoyed reading the thoughts from fellow bloggers.
