Sometimes i wonder how would have world looked like if it was colorless .
I believe that colors are Expressions of Nature .They are given to nature for reason . They are way to communicate and connect .
I think they exist to make us realize that we too are not just plain but of different moods and shades as human .How amazing that this reality is also revealed by colors that we encounter in day to day life .
I think if the world was colorless like water or only white like snow it would have affected the human nature to great extent .
What if only white flowers grow in each garden you visit .Would your heart have grabbed same delight and excitement by viewing the blooms of one color constantly ?
I have observed that as we grow our likening for colors change little bit .In middle age many of us like to wear brighter colors and may be they want to bring light in their hearts heavy with various experiences of aging. When you are young your heart is already light and thrilled with temptations and invitations that life is holding for you.
When i was young my most favorite color was white ,blue and green. I would love to dress white .It would annoy my mom because back in my village white color is worn when we go to attend funeral .It was considered sign of sorrow .Though i loved pink ,yellow orange and purple but i felt more easy and genuine when blue ,green and white existed around me or my dress had them.
Blue is color of sky and oceans look blue either .It was my second most favorite choice . Walls of our home back then had no color as they were covered only with slightly grey cement and i found it comforting to have around .
In my mind i had a quiet wish to have grayish blue around but it had no way to be fulfilled .
My third favorite colors was green . And i was literally surrounded by green .Hills around village were green. Fields laying before my eyes were green and rows of trees standing tall here and there were green.
Now when i think whether blue ,green and white were my favorite color Or they became so because i grew among them ?
I don't know if other who grew in same environment feel same .
In 50th year of life i still feel compelled with same colors which i liked in my childhood and youth.
1) What is your favorite color and how you have managed to have it with you all the time ?
2)Do you think your favorite color speak to you ?
2) How would you define your Relation with your favorite color ?
Have colorful bright cherishing life each day dear friends :)))
A very thoughtful post Baili. I have not put that much thought into colors but maybe I should. My favorite color is purple, partially because it is fairly uncommon. I am going to put some thought into the colors that I observe today because of your post.
ReplyDeleteIt seems you like to make Unique choice dear Brain :)
DeleteWhat is my favourite colour? Oh, I think I haven't got a favourite. As my mood changes, or the seasons come and go, I long for different colours... :-) But, if I had to give an answer, I'd say that my favourites are blue and green. :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a colourful, happy week, dear Baili! Hugs!
With time I feel attracted to all colours dear Edit
DeleteNow I am bit able to hear what they say to me :)
I love shades of blue and turquoise. Turquoise is an accent colour in our home. It reminds me of the sea which I love.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of the week, Baili.
Turquoise has both shades "green and blue " both are my favourite and so is this colour
DeleteMy house has greyesh blue theme which I love so much
We are so blessed to live in a world of colour and yet sometimes we scarcely notice them! My favourite colour has always been blue. But I love all other colours too!
ReplyDeleteHow unfortunate to not realise the presence of blessings dear Debra
DeleteI think most unfortunate thing!
I just don't have a favorite color. Like you say, colors have influence on us in various situations. Natural colors in the natural world are different than artificial colors.
ReplyDeleteCertain colours are therapeutic to have around according to psychologists dear Red
DeleteAfter reading your amazing post today, I realised how I have been taking all the beautiful colours around me for granted!
ReplyDeleteWhere I am sitting right now...looking out of the window...I see the yellow of our vehicle, the coppers and browns of the autumn trees, the green grass, the various browns of the trees, and the blue and grey of the sky.
All these stunning hues of Nature...and I had hardly noticed them until you prompted me!
Dearest Baili...you are such an inspiration!😊😊
And now to answer your questions...
1) my favourite colour is yellow, and I have managed to keep it with me always by persuading my husband to buy our yellow camper van!
2) I do feel that yellow speaks to me. When I wear a dress of that colour, it appears to make me feel more confident!
3) I think I would define my relationship with my favourite colour by saying that it lifts my spirits and makes me think of sunshine (something we see very little of in England!).
Thank you so much for a fabulous and thought provoking post, dearest Baili!😊😊
May the colours of the rainbow brighten your day too!!
Love and hugs ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh thank you for such perfectly delightful comment dear Ygraine:)
DeleteHow can I be thankful enough for your sweetest words for me always my friend!
How insightful to notice exuberant displays of colours around you
Yellow is HAPPY colour indeed and I absolutely love it specially they sunflowers bring me most joy among all other bloomes because their joyous bright heart filling delight is remarkable and uncomparable :)
I smiled deeply when you said you kept yellow close by buying yellow vehicle friend :)
Imagining you in yellow dress make my heart so happy. I can feel the strong gust of joy waving around you wherever you go :)))
Hi Baili :) I think that if we didn't have colour in our world, we would never know any different, so we'd still appreciate the beauty of Nature! Having said that, I'm THANKFUL I can see colour and have it all around me!! When I was a kid, teenager mostly, I only wore black. But that was also a teenager thing because of my music influences! I hardly wear black anymore, I love to wear different colours. I have colour all around me, especially with my art! I think my favourite of all colours is green because I love the forest, the trees and the bushes! I have green curtains in my studio, and they always make me feel closer to Nature when everything is dead in the winter. I try to always have green plants in my window year round because they remind me of everything I have in my life and that growth (in all aspects) is an essential part of a grateful existence! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you dear Rain for insightful comment
DeleteHow wise to surrounded by green curtains while everything is white around :)
I can imagine the serenity and joy they give you during winter ;)
Having plants near when trees and plants are covered with snow can be so reliving :)
I share your gratitude for eyes and colourful sights I am blessed with my friend
1. Like you I have had different favorite colors but at different times. I always liked blue and still do. Black is the color of mourning here. I went through a phase where black was my favorite color because I felt sorry for it. I like purple now. A nice bright yellow is also cheery.
ReplyDelete2. Many colors speak to me. It often depends on my mood.
3. Blues and purples are calming colors. I am a mostly calm person so I like colors that soothe me.
through t.v shows and movies i knew that black is color of mourning at your part of land dear Emma !
Deletethere was a time when i feared having black around and wearing it was impossible ,i would look at people as alien if they wear black
but now i love black deeply and i feel great appeal for it's depth :)
i so agree that it depends on mood sometimes that what color speak to us ,though sometime memories belong to colors are so strong and can pull you out of bad mood :)
I like blue
ReplyDeletei believe blue is universally claimed favorite dear Christine :)
DeleteNature blesses us with so much incredible colour, and yet so many walk around without truly appreciating it.
ReplyDeleteColours influence our lives, our feelings, even our memories …
I think most who know me know that I enjoy wearing the colour pink …
All the best Jan
i feel sorry for who don't open eyes of their soul and realize the blessings that they are blessed ,colors are among them indeed and have power cherish our hearts often
Deletetheir influence seems strong on our way of life when specially we prefer some certain colors to have around
Pink is Gorgeous and cheerful color i never could forget a long pink maxi (dress ) that mom bought me when i was around eight years ,it was pink and one of the most pretty dress i ever had :)
Baili great thoughts on color. My favorite is blue. It is what I consider a peaceful color. Hope you have a super day. Hugs!
ReplyDeletei agree that blues speak for serenity and peace of mind ,it seems to give you broad space to create your own comfort zone :)
DeleteHi, Baili! I could not pick a favorite color, because I love so many colors, and my "favorites" can change with the day and my moods. I have lived in stark, colorless environments during the winter when there were essentially three colors: white (snow/ice), black (black spruce trees), and blue (the sky when it was clear). This would be in Northern Ontario and Northern Newfoundland. I found these landscapes powerful and beautiful. But I and others were always delighted to see the spring return and color the landscape vividly. Many Newfoundlanders would paint their houses with bright colors, so that in the winter there would be some color in their world. When colorful plastic flowers became available, the people in our outport would put them outside in the snow, because they were hungry for color. People in other parts of Canada would make fun of "Newfies" for doing this and other things they found funny or unsophisticated ~ but I got it, having lived it! Sending you big hugs and hoping you are having a great day!
ReplyDeletethank you so much for lovely words dear Louise
Deleteall colors are spectacular and lovable Indeed ,and i learnt it gradually when i broke my shell and moved out :)
Oh living in area with specific and a few colors must be unique experience
Needs are mother of Invention yes just like people of your area i used to have plastic plants to fulfill my thirst for Colors :) when i lived with my inlaws ,there was no garden after division of the house so no space for plantation
for sixteen years i relied on plastic flowers to satisfy my love for Nature :)
What a thoughtful post Baili! So much that we take for granted in our world, and this certainly is one of them! I've often said that losing your sight is the worst thing to happen, because as they say "a picture is worth a thousand words". A thousand words could never convey the beauty of a rose in the middle of a summer's garden, or the sweet delight of a rainbow in the sky after a storm. And you know, I have wondered this... are there more colors in the world that I have yet to see? I wonder? I've heard that there are colors in heaven that cannot be explained here, from people who have had near-death experiences. I want to have eyes to see those colors! I love to wear blues, as I am blonde-haired, blue-eyed {smiles} Turquoise being my favorite shade, accented with browns, and often black. I prefer my home to have neutral colors on the walls, so I can accent with bright colors as I choose.
ReplyDeleteMay the Lord bless you sweet friend, I remain always grateful for your friendship :)
Dear Marilyn this is such a pleasure to have you back :)
Deletei too often think that life is such short period and how badly we waste it in things that don't make us feel alive and nor they bring us close to our Maker
we live a weird pathetic life and pass away with so many regrets and folly
it is shame and sad that we forget to Live in real means ,we forget to realize blessings we are blessed with and we forget to be grateful for them which is actual essence of this life so we can spread peace ,joy and prosperity in this world
believe me dear friend that either i have wondered so many times that if there exist more colors and now i am hearing it from you that heaven has these :)))
oh those fortunate who will cherish the will of Lord and embrace those colors :)
I bet blue goes so well with your golden hair :) i too like to be surrounded by natural colors at home and my little garden does it for me :)
Es un placer pasar por su blog Saludos
ReplyDeleteMy favourite colour has always been blue. But I'm also very attracted to purple and orange. I'm so grateful to be living in a world with so many beautiful shades of colour.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a favorite color.
ReplyDeleteDependes os the mood and the ambiance.
I like yellow, green, red, purple, and brown.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I have to choose something, usually one of those colors or mixing.
I think my colors reflect such my personality, but I am not sure.
Have a great day, Baili! Enjoy the colors of nature, they are so magnificent.
Dear Baili, my favorites are red and purple. In school, we wore uniforms: white blouses and blue skirts and we didn't have a lot of money to buy clothing, but when I got something new it could be any color! Then the convent years were black: black habits, black veils, black shoes. After that, I just liked color--any color would do. But now red and purple seem to express my belief that life is rich with experience and love. Peace.
ReplyDeleteI love blue and purple, however pink and red are also close to my heart☺ Purple and pink are quite feminine, si that is why I love them, red I always have on my nails, cos it is classic. And blue because my son and husband look so good wearing it😊
ReplyDeletei find purple so elegant dear Natalia :) i bet you look beautiful when wear your favorite colors and all others either
Deleteoh i saw your delicate lovely hands in your video ,they look stunning with red shade on :)))
haha how amazing that i too think that blue looks best on hubby and sons :)
I've always liked the complimentary colors on a color wheel - like blues an yellows/oranges together or purples and greens. But it's odd because I usually wear regular ole blue jeans and black or grey tops. very strange. Nice to see your blog again. It's been awhile. I will be back to catch up on your life and your kids and your eldest in college.
ReplyDeleteyou play with lots of colors as an artist dear Sandy and may be this could be the reason that you already feel so rich in color and feel less attraction for wearing them either ? my opinion only :)
Deleteit is pleasure to have you here my friend ,you are always well come warmly :)
thank you Baili. you are a very aware Being - I like that and love your stories.
DeleteI don't have any favourite colour. There are many colours that I like and colours come in many different shades.
ReplyDeletei agree that world we live in is so rich in colors and choosing one or two is injustice to natures delightful offer of precious hues dear Nancy :)
DeleteI love the colours of nature but when it comes to colours that I choose for myself I enjoy neutral colours in my home and primarily blues and lavenders for clothing, often with bits of black in the pattern also. When I look at my closet almost all my clothing is in those colours. They feel serene to me and make me feel my best.
ReplyDeleteBut Nature's colours are wonderful. I enjoy them every time I go outside. The many shades of green in the spring and summer, the reds, yellows, and oranges of autumn leaves, even the stark white and black and gray of our winters. The brown of the earth when planting seeds, the various blues of the sky at different times of the day. The colours of bird feathers and the fur on different animals. Oh, what beauty everywhere!
My favorite color is yellow because it is so cheerful and sunny.
ReplyDeleteThat is interesting that white is worn at funerals where you live, Baili. Here, we wear black at funerals. I can see how one of your favorite colors is green because nature is green, and it's such a soothing and peaceful color. That is Nel's favorite color too. To answer your questions.....
ReplyDelete*my favorite color is Purple. It think it's mysterious and so beautiful.
*Yes, it speaks to me like no other. I used to have a Purple guest room, but no longer do.
*my relationship with this color has been a pleasant one. It's been my favorite for many years, and there's just something about it that's speaks to my heart.
Happy November days, dear Baili.
~Sheri
Some tribes in my country are the same, they don't trust modern medical method, but look like they are normal in health. Life goes naturally among the forest like dew in the morning falls and dries...
ReplyDeleteMy comments are for your very recent post, but why am I here, LOL sorry Baili.
ReplyDeleteHello Baili, I haven't visited you in a while and so I am going to take my time and read each one of your posts since I did as the way you look at life and the things you discuss are always so interesting.
ReplyDeleteThe world would be a very drab place if there were no colour in it. It must be very hard for people who are losing their sight. Perhaps it would be hardest for those who've never been able to see and therefore have no knowledge of what colour is.
Thanks Baili, for your thoughtful post xx
