The Garden side effects ,pics and a Query!

              Hello  Precious  Friends!

Hope   and  pray   that    all   of   you   are  having   safe   life   with  no   serious  painful   disease  and  hope   that   you   are   thanking   for  this   beautiful   healthy   life   to   your  Dear   God   through   each   breath   you   take  .

I   said   so   because   i   strongly   believe  that   whatever   God   gives   us   is   just  his  own   love   for   us    and  nothing   extra  ordinary we   do  to  deserve  it  otherwise.

Today  i  am  talking    with   you  about  my   small  garden  area  which  is 10  by 10  beside  the  entrance  wall   of  my   front   yard .

This  photo is  from  winter  October    just to show you width of my small garden beside maingate

In  summers   we   sleep   in  our   yard  just  because   of  me  as  i  love   sleeping  in  natural   environment    rather   than   artificial   cooling.

                                                                Garden  in last month

Garden  is   favorite   place   for   all   living   creatures   like  sparrows    ,parrots ,crows    and   some   other   kinds  of  small   and   big   birds   who's name   i   don't  even   know .   But   there   live   also   a   sort  of   an  invisible    REALLY   TINY     insects   who   once  in   a   while   bit   any   of  our   family   member   and    cause    trouble.

Last   day   my   younger    son  (14 years old)  was   bitten  by   some   insect   while   sleeping   in   the   yard   almost   5   meters   away   from   garden .  When   he   woke   up   in   morning   his   left   eye   has   swelling  and   looked   reddish.

Beautiful flower  bull in my garden  that  blooms  well only  in  temp less  than 40 or above than 20 only

He   looked   little   sick   and   lazy   .I   asked   him   to   take   leave   from   school  but   he   said   his   monthly   test   are   going   on   and   he   has   to  go .  But   When   he   returned   at   2  pm  noon   he   was   shivering   with   fever    and   swelling   spread   to   his   left    cheek   too.

bird  nesting under  the  bull  in mild  weathers

He   complained  he  has   headache .  We   both   were   so   worried   and   hubby   gave   him   a   tablet   for   allergy   that   he  keeps   at   home   since   long   as   he   also   has   some   skin   allergy.
We   also   gave   him   a  tablet   for   fever  as  our   family   doctor   where   we  go   comes   to  his   clinic   on  6:30  pm   evening   so   we   thought   it   will   give    my   son   some   relief.
Thank   God   self   medicine   worked   and  fever  left  within   two   hours . Doctor   gave   him   some   medicines   which   made   him  feel   better   today . I   did   not   let   him   go  to   school   today   we   mother   and   son   had   lots   of    good   time  together .  I  dely  my   chores    and   sat   with   him .

don't  know  the  name  of this lovely  plant

We   talked   lot   about   each   other   lives   and   interests  future   plans  and etc. I   felt   this   time   PRECIOUS   as   i   know   such   sittings   occur    rarely  He   made  paintings  of   some  of   his  favorite  cartoon   characters.

It  has  only  one   thick  flower that last  for  many  weeks

I   made   his   fav   food   biryaani  (chicken rice). He   does  not   like   sweets   and  it   annoys  me  i  love   sweet  though  can't  eat  as  much   i   want  now   but  glad   that  i   make  him   eat   some  fruits  everyday   as   he  is  so  lazy   in   eating  fruit .His  fav   is  spicy   stuff  specially   fried  which  is  unhealthy   if   use   it   constantly .

Evergreen  flower  in two  colors white  and pink

Oh  my   where  i  am   going  with   my   topic .  Actually  i   want   to   ask   you   that   almost   all  of  you   have   Gardens    so

My   younger  son  took  this  pic  while  he  was  outward   side   of  our  colony ,liked it!

WHAT   DO   YOU   DO  TOO  KEEP   AWAY  SUCH   HARMFUL   INSECTS???

Kindly  let  me  know   your   solutions   as  i   need   to  know  it.

Thank  you  for  stopping  by  dear   fellos.

I   wish   you  a Happy  ,Healthy  Peaceful   life  with  loving  family  and  beautiful  friendly  weathers, amen.
Take  Great   Care,Love   You  All ,God  Bless   You  All!!!

  2. Your garden is lovely and I'm glad you got to spend time with your son but sorry it was because of his insect bite. I wish I could help but thankfully we don't have problems with dangerous insects here. Could your mystery plant be some sort of celosia?

I have to Google about it. May be it is

  3. Try mixing 1 tablespoon of cooking oil, a few drops of liquid Ivory soap, and 1 quart of water. Spray it on your plants. It will keep most insects away and is not toxic to your family.

Do you have citronella candles? I am not sure if they would work on all insects. We use them to keeo mosquitos away.

  5. Good that your son feels better meanwhile! Such bad insects - I don't have any solution. Here I use a thinned apple vinegar in a spritzer bottle - half filled with water - half filled with apüple vinegar and spritz it on my skin when I go to the fields and the forrest with my dogs. That helps me- my dauthger doesn't like the bad smell - she swears by Lavender oil.
    Your garden is so beautiful!
    Be blessed my friend!

  6. Thank you Baili for sharing your kindness of heart and gentle thoughts, that calm and for your pics, showing us your blessings of a Loving Creator! Reminding us to breath in deeply happy and healthy thoughts of truth to keep us sound and content!
My eye lid is coming along, thank you, I have to remember to use a warmed green tea bag on it for 10 mins- helps draw out the infection. For your son, maybe a tea bag of neem might help - as we discussed the many benefits that healing herbs has!
I agree with Susi ~ apple vinegar slightly watered down. http://www.gardenguides.com/99364-vinegar-insect-garden-spray.html They might be 'no seem um' bugs. You probably already washed the area with warm water and soap without getting it in his eye. Also aloe vera can be soothing. You'll have to use your grandma skills! The warm/hot tea bag might help too to draw out any infection, make sure its just a bite and no eggs laid.
Thank you too for your correspondence! With Appreciation! God Grace keep you and yours :)

  14. Baili, I am thankful to hear that your son is okay. How worrisome that must have been for all of you. I'm glad that you and your son got to spend a special time together. It sounds like your son is serious about his studies which is awesome. School is important, but sometimes other things, like health, must take priority.

I can't offer any helpful solutions about keeping bugs away. In the past we used a bug repellent like OFF or DEET, but I wouldn't recommend them for any regular use ~ possibly harmful chemicals, especially if it got into the eyes or mouth. We've also used citronella candles, but you don't want to go to sleep with a lighted candle. Maybe sleeping under a mosquito net??? I would try some of the suggestions in the comments above.

    Sending you hugs and love!

You are so kind to show concern about my son my friend.

Yes he is quite serious about his studies now than before as he sees his elder brother that how ambitious he in life .he irealize his elder brother and wants to be something in life as he talks about it excitedly.

We use lotion though but we did not like it's smell and my both young sons dislike it what to do we changed many but they hate smell of each .we either but we have to apply though for some insect it's not working.

That we did use net for some times but somehow they seemed as they were blocking the fan air so hubby put them back in store

  16. That is a scary tale. Your poor son. So happy that he is better and that you were able to have fun mother/son time at home. My son-in-law sprays my home inside and out twice year and whatever he uses does rid my home of bugs. I will find bugs but they are dead when I see them.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Thank you Annie!

how amazing that your son in law sprays only twice a year and there you find no insects anymore .i am surprised that what kind of powerful spray it is .

we tried spray on our garden but it hurts plants and some of them could not bear it's effect and die so we use body lotion only on bare parts like arms feet
    and forehead etc in nights

  19. Hi Baili :) I'm so glad your son got better. I'm guessing it was an allergy to the venom that the insect had in it? Alex gets really bad reactions from black flies, which are the most annoying little bug that exists around here. He basically stays indoors during the bad black fly season because we've tried everything. Home remedies, home insect repellent, even DEET - which is basically a toxic bug repellent which works 90% of the time...but who knows what it really does to us who wear it?? I don't like the idea of wearing poison!!!

We have net hats too, that keeps the bugs away from our faces and heads, but still allows us to breathe okay though it's a pain to see. Long shirts, even though the black flies seem to get through them too!

I don't think we can ever avoid those nasty bugs, I just can't stand them. That's why autumn is one of my favourite seasons, no bugs!!!

PS I love all of your garden photos!!! Do you ever grow vegetables and herbs?

    1. Thank you dear Rain!

We sleep in open yard which is 30 by 30 and that is why all sprays be failure.

Though lotions works little but seems not for all insects .
Thank you for liking my little garden my friend!

  20. I am so happy your son is doing better! The only thing we do in our garden to keep away bugs is burn citronella candles. It almost smells like lemon and bugs don't like it. Unless you spray yourself with bug spray, that will keep them away too! Love your garden photos! bIg Hugs!

  21. Baili in hot countries I have found that burning incense sticks really works as insect don't like smoke, also rubbing skin with lemon as they don't like citrus. I hope you can protect your family from these insects - tiger balm (vics, eucalyptus ointment) gives great relief.

  23. So sorry I have no solutions about the bugs but I am reading the comments with interest.

I'm glad your son responded favourably to the pills and is feeling better. And you made good use of the time together; we don't always get time with our kids when they are open to discussing serious things!

  24. I can image how frightening it must have been for your family, Baili, when you son suffered these effects. I was wondering if you have ever had any other bad reaction from sleeping outdoors, and hopefully there have not been. While I have heard of some of the home-made remedies that others have recommended, whenever I have been in an area with insects around, I have used a store-bought product. Glad you and your son were able to spend same lovely time together, despite the reason.

  25. I'm glad that your son is getting better after the bad reaction to the insect bite. It must have been worrying for you especially as you have an on-going problem when you sleep out to get some relief from the heat. (You have a beautiful garden which gives you much pleasure I know). We also have issues regarding the danger of bad reactions to insect bites in the hot Summer season in Italy. We burn citronella candles when sitting out and use repellent lotions containing natural products and the same if we get bitten. Because my immune system is weak my doctor prescribed a course of antihistamine tablets before we went to Italy recently and it helped a lot when I got bitten from mosquitoes. My husband did not take antihistamine tablets and he got bitten by something whilst working in the garden. The place on his arm became swollen and painful. There was relief from using a lotion on it, but several weeks later the area is still sore. Wishing you all the best.

We too use lotion but only apply when about to lay in yard , it doesn't work as cure when we get bitten though.
I sorry for your husband who has suffered with such painful experience that went as long, hope he feels better soon .
it is great that your doctor prescribed tablets for bettering your immune system and glad it worked for you my friend .
thank you so much for best wishes dear ,my heart has same for you and your family!

  26. Thank you, dearest Baili, for your lovely blog and lovely comments. ♥

Sleeping outside sounds very pleasant, but that kind of insects are very scary. Fortunately your son feels better now.
I can't really suggest any remedies against insects. Mosquitoes are bothering here, but not really dangerous. Sometimes we use incenses or candles, if we want to sit outside in the evening. To protect the plants we don't really need any products, because ours is a very natural environment (almost woodland :)) and there are birds and other insects that limit the number of (harmful) insects.

Wishing you blessed autumn days and sending you many hugs.

  27. Dearest Baili, wow...such a beautiful garden!! I can see why sleeping out there is a really inviting idea.
I have found that burning citronella garden torches is a good way of keeping unwanted insects at bay. It really does work (for me, at least!), so would be worth a try.:)

  29. Reading the comments I am glad your son is better now.

I got bitten on my legs by small flies earlier in the summer causing my ankles to swell up and I got a slight fever.

I was told that antihistamine tablets should be taken for a few days, perhaps the same tablet that your husband gave your son.

I was also advised citronella candles/smells keep insects at bay and also an insect spray:

    http://jungleformula.co.uk/

perhaps you can find something similar where you live.
