  1. I always thought of a strong person as someone who was not a pushover and who thought for themselves. Independent thinking has a lot to do with it. Someone who follows the crowd seems to lack strength.,

  3. There is physical strength of course but my mom was called 'a rock' for her inner strength. She calmly faced all adversity and overcame it all in the end.

  4. Like Debra, I think of a strong person as resilient, quietly confident enough in his or her own strength to be gentle and help others.

  8. A strong person is one who continues in life even when bad things happen. Both my mother and mother-in-law were strong women. Adversities might have seemed insurmountable to a lot of people but both my mothers dealt with them and made life tolerable for all their loved ones. Both fathers were good men but it was the mothers who took care of us all.

  12. Strong not necessary means muscles. I would say strong means both inner strength to face what challenges life throws at the person. Strong to stand even with pressures coming from all sides.

  13. Physically strong is an obvious choice, but someone can be physically impaired or just not as mighty in body as another and still be strong. To me strong has as much to do with ability to endure tough times or situations, to stay silent when words will only inflame a situation, or to stand up for the right things even when you are in the minority. A person can be strong in many ways including physically, mentally, and emotionally.

  17. As so many people have already commented, there are so many definitions of what being strong means. Certainly to some, it is purely physical and related to body image, but I agree that the strong person is one who has a good moral character and also one who has faced adversity and come out even stronger in mind.

  18. When I think of "strong" I picture standing one's ground to uphold good moral and ethical behavior, and being able to take the hard things that life brings and not give up. And to continue to model those things for the youth who are in our lives.

    A very interesting question, baili!

  19. A strong person is the one who is kind to others, true to oneself, and can act according to one's own conscience regardless of the situation, I think.

I’m back to blogging after a long break. The dangerous heat is not all about temperatures but humidity, like 37 degrees C, 70 percent humidity. I guess Japan was much more tropical than your place. Have happy September ahead, Baili.

  21. Mais do que a força física, interessa a força anímica. Para mim uma pessoa forte é aquela que consegue levar a sua vida sempre com coragem e alegria…
    Uma boa semana.

  22. Dear Baili, of course strong could simply mean the ability lift heavy objects! but for me a strong person is one who is centered within the Oneness of All Creation and so is at peace with herself or himself. Peace to you today, pressed down and overflowing.

  23. Hi Baili :)))
Oh that photo lol...I'm not fond of muscle men I have to say!

I can only speak in terms of being a woman. :)
A strong women, to me, is a woman who knows what makes her happy, has strong boundaries and won't allow people to treat her like crap, can be the leader of her household, yet a tender, loving nurturer at the same time. :)

  24. I love your blog byline!!! Such wise words.

Strength in character is so much more important than physical strength. But they are both important. One for life and one for health. Integrity/strength....things I value a lot.

Hugs to you and happy week!
