History Of America

I am listening |" Philosophical Essays "by Bertrand Russell .I did not choose it deliberately as on one extremely hot day  i made quick scroll for audio book  while standing in kitchen and when did not find any other attractive option i clicked on this one. But i am glad i found it as it deals with really important topics of human life such as Ethics ,nature of truth and  falsehood and concept of right and wrong. I am on the first chapter right now and i am enjoying it so much already. According to very first conclusion by author about human action which one is right and which one is wrong ,he says that because it is hard to decide about who is right and who is wrong as everyone had different standards for right and wrong and it is possible that what is right for one is wrong for other so we can conclude that Action that leads to least probability of bad result as whole  is good and action that contains more probability of bad result for all is bad . I completely agree to this conclusion by author. But i wonder this conclusion includes the concept of "greater good" .

Idea about greater good came into mind as hubby and me are watching History Of America on YouTube channel  since few days. It is hosted by one of very brilliant Pakistani  YouTuber  Faisal Warraich in Urdu language. Hubby is happy to find source where he can learn part of history he did not know .And i am happy for him :)

I can do lots of my stuff like reading and blogging but when hubby is home in evenings specially i am more comfortable to just be with him and find joy in what makes both of us happy. So i am more happy than him that he found something which is of his great interest as he is not into books like he was some years ago.

Back to idea of "greater Good " that came into my mind when i was watching History Of America . I know if see things closely they seem different than when we see them as whole in a panoramic view. I know if i was part of those tribes who were burnt and exiled during era when European settlers tried to  create homeland for themselves i could have not thought like this, but may be someone who would have come far later than me and looked at things as established   before him already might have thought like this in favor .

What is that thought ?

Well it is that if see carefully Nature is ruthless teacher .She provides us method to grow and thrive . Her guidance is flawless  and with every  necessary detail.Naturalists know how nature  has taught us through her powerful ,vibrant, ultimate  happenings  and features  that survival is right of deserving only. One who plays good and by rules deserves the victory. And rules of Nature are crucial . She is a perfect teacher. Perfect teacher teaches in best way and then does not allow cheating at all. Here cheating comes in term of  sympathetic  offer for help if student needs during exam later.

Nature has no sympathy for those students who did not pay attention when they were being taught .If they fail to survive the exam, according to Nature they deserve this failure .She has many more to teach .So if see carefully in the class room of  Nature  students who learnt well and most are victorious until now. They deserve it as it is result of their long hard work.

Nature shows us in her every aspect that Balance provides base for strong and stable construction. Best students  missed this part few centuries ago probably. They focused on physical victory and immediate undisturbed settlement . Spiritual joy and free of guilt conscience liberate us from inner darkness .And such freedom is real light and actual victory .

They forgot this haste and cruelty will travel along their many generations and can make them feel embarrassed for what their ancestors did in order to make their homeland long ago. But may be this was need of time or way of Nature to move things further as we humans cannot escape from what she has stored for us already like game that goes under various stages during being played.

If see from Nature's point of view despite of all the mess Best students  has made in past they  have succeeded to give this world a civilized shape finally. They are learning to be  more patient and more precise and we can see this after ww second .Unlike past they have acknowledged that nature has created every human with equal rights of life. Though they aim best for themselves  which is their right but  some good for others too ,not just bad like in past, which is healthy sign indeed.

I wish brighter student keep learning well and more and help others to do same. I wish they bring spiritual glory to people's life so they can learn the real meaning of life and can make their existence successful .

I could not say things in details due to lack of time as it is 6 :8 evening.I have to get up for walk and then tea time for me and hubby :)

Health ,Peace and Happiness to all of you precious friends!

please keep being kind to yourself and all around you as this is only thing we leave behind !

  2. History is often colored by the views of the writer. It is important to read differing points of view to try to get what really happened. History fascinates me too. That is why I so enjoy reading about your customs and seeing your pictures of your country. I have learned a lot.

    1. i agree that writer's attitude can influence history but not to great extent dear Emma as there is lot of competition for writing about particular topic which makes this possibility less because everyone wants to be trusted for his next project ,specially we are living in time when it is almost impossible to hide anything or mislead because people have so many opportunities to find what is truth .

i think we enjoy difference of cultures because they bring new learning to us about new societies ,i believe in future if renaissance happens once more ,it will be for the unity of people and for one single culture ,it will be for awakening of people from old dreams where they feel happy to dwell about their individual and national identities ,so they can move forward and form new identity as single specie on earth who traveled through different roads to find one destination where they can gather and struggle for survival .this common culture and only identity as inhabitant of earth will make them stronger then they ever were when withered and divided !

  3. I enjoyed reading you -and I, living in America, other than taking Social Studies, Geography, History etc. in school because they were required I learned just what they wanted us to know. Some how all the "truth" about our Native Americans, etc. and other things were left out. It's only as I got older and researched for myself that I learned that our schools really didn't teach truth in so many ways. Anyway, enjoyed your post and how nice that you and your husband have found something you both enjoy doing in the evenings.

    1. it happens in every country dear Sandy sadly

thanks to advancement of technological sources anybody can learn what he wants.
as i mentioned in my previous post i was happy as school going child for all the fair tales written in my school books. that was peace and joy to find we got our heaven and are living happily eve rafter.
but with growing age and knowledge when things revealed i felt i have been living life while having blindfold on my eyes.
my curiosity led me to know more and more and then learning about country pushed me further to learn about how countries formed etc .
i think nothing unnatural happened ,who those have skills had right and guts to flourish .Failures are great lessons for those who wasted their time in invaluable things but i think they still need time and lesson as many of us are slow learners and if this cause harm to them they deserve it.
i believe victory is for deserving ones .
my husband had fondness for books in spare time but since social media has arrived he is more busy with listening and learning through it specially he enjoys informative videos and he finds best one .when i am free from house chores i sit for blogging mostly but i do it until hubby is busy on phone .when i see him free i want to be with him because i think this is best way to spend time together as family .watching t.v together is our oldest hobby and now we are habitual to it :)

    2. enjoyed your response ..thanks so much Baili - ..love the idea that you would rather be with him in the evenings rather than blogging or such. We here, have kind of gotten in the routine of watching our own shows in different rooms - we have different tastes in TV and kind of in life...lol. But we spend a lot of time during the day hiking or going places for fun.

those who don't pay attention still are in awe if nature is something and somewhere or may be it is name of something dead or alive .
only most alert one and with sharpest senses can see ,hear and learn what nature is teaching . no place for dumb here and no mercy for those who don't learn how to survive ,this is most obvious from Nature

  5. There is always more to learn which is interesting to me too. I looked up Bertrand Russell. You and your husband are an intellectual powerhouse. Sometimes I read in these areas but I stay in the more everyday sort of reading.

As far as the colonization of North and South American and other parts of the world; it is the will of the powerful over the weaker. I find it interesting to meet people from other parts of the world.

I am North American and basically of European descent. I have Native American and African ancestry to a lesser extent. My European ancestors date back to the 1600's and a few from Spain to the 1500's. So my identity is definitely North American. My ancestors did good things and bad things which I have no control over. In my humble opinion, I think this is true for all people all over the world. We are the result of their actions yet we have no power over what they did.

    1. precious friend Ann thank you for kind and sweet comment !

you and your nation are fortunate to be facilitate by authorities so you can learn about your ancestors which is such a joy and relief i think .here we have no such facility unfortunately.

i think making mistake is normal and natural thing .it is part of our learning process. we makes mistake though they vary in different stages of life . for a child it can be okay to cry for toffee holding by other child and he can try to snatch it as he thinks with his less learned mind that is his right.
but when child is grown up he knows that he cannot have thing which does not belong to him and this says his better learned mind .

when in beginning people lived in tribes ,they found it okay to invade each other for accomplishing power over them or for gaining their resources .they learnt in long time what is the difference between right and wrong and how it is important to give respect so they can get respect in return.
we made long journey to reach here ,where we can call ourselves civilized .So most important thing is to forget mistakes we our ancestors made when they were in the beginning of this journey .like wise people we should avoid those mistakes and move further by holding hands of each other as one .without thought of cheating each other and with hearts filled with respect for each other .this is the only way we can survive without doing more damage to this planet and humanity as if we repeat past mistake damage will not remain in boundaries to destroy any one country and we all know this so well

  6. There was a time in my life when I went on a Bertrand Russell binge and read many of his books. A wonderful writer and thinker, very controversial for his time, perhaps less so now that we have caught up to him and his ideas a bit more!

    1. when truth is new to others specially with darkness inside or for those who have power to suppress it ,it is always controversial .but time is most amazing thing created by Creator ,it is far slippery for new truths and discoveries to confront us whether we want them or not :) so we are bound to meet truths finally ,no one has power over the divine process of nature

    1. if so we deserve this death dear Pedro .

we have learnt from nature willingly or unwillingly and this is why we are here ,but our selfishness and narrow thinking making this process slow or use it by trying to mould it according to our benefits .we think we can change laws of nature ,may be we can manipulate it little bit and think we succeeded but nature has it's way and time to teach course and that is what we need to learn most

actually hubby never left me alone so it has become my habit to be with him specially when he is completely free ,we have common interests for learning and we enjoy it together .and yes i believe that feeling together is more important than only being together so i try to keep it this way .we share our thoughts about everything we learn and this make joy complete :)
so true ,life is really ,really short to learn a smallest part of it ,we know nothing indeed but a little very little

  12. You are so impressive in your choice of materials to read or listen to, Baili. I have been reading and listening to books, mostly fiction I confess. You manage to convey your thoughts and reactions to what you have read in a wonderful manner. And the fact that you refrain from doing things you enjoy alone to do things, even like watching a program, with your husband is something many people fail to do. My husband and I also put aside our devices and other interests to watch a movie or program most evenings.

  13. how sweet of you to say this dear Dorothy !
i felt honored with your kind words !

i used to read novels ,stories ,fables since i was in primary classes i would borrow books from school library and they were from national literature mostly and in Urdu language .when i was in my mid teens my father would bring along digest and magazines which would have translated stories from European and English literature.
so now suddenly i feel my fondness for fiction has lessened gradually .
I am more interested in things about which my mind contemplated unconsciously for years and now i think about them consciously ,things like Universe ,life and Time .I don't think one or few lives are enough for learning about all these but the little time i have i want to spend in quest to know them .
i don't know how but i feel that may be in few thousand years man will learn to convert himself into no material thing and will be able to fly from one planet to other like fireflies .i want to see that era but i know i can't .yet i am so happy somehow how i know this at least :)

yes i can do things alone but as far as to enjoy them this is what i think, i think i enjoy sharing my time and my choices for watching shows ,movies with hubby more than doing it by my own,may be it sounds childish or immature but this is what i am .
i believe that as human being and family member we are most obliged to share happiness .this is true power of love and companionship in my opinion .but this is also a fact that we don't have to bear each other inevitably as we share stuff that interest both of us .Otherwise we too do things alone like i do my blogging or reading and hubby watching other videos on YouTube .
how nice you too enjoy watching movies and shows together .

  23. You put me to shame, Baili. I rarely tackle philosophy. I took a year long course in philosophy in university, but most of it has vanished from my mind. I did much better with studying rocks. America's history has a lot of bad events, and most of us would rather not think about those things, things like slavery and how the indigenous people were treated. While we have lofty ideals as a country, we will only become better by recognizing our past, reconciling it, and rising above it. Right now there is so much division and hatred in our country, that I worry about us overcoming it. I never expected to live in such times ~ Oh naive me! I'm setting time aside each evening to spend time with Terry. His heart attack really showed me how fragile our lives are. Wishing you many years of happy evenings with your husband!

  24. i think there is no one on earth who did not make mistake whether it's an individual or state dear Louise .

i really respect your thought that we rise above by realizing our past mistakes .i agree this is the only way to learn from previous wrongdoings and grow for better .
i think America is investing lots of positive energy into the world today just like Germany. specially his financial support to underdeveloped countries must be selfless effort to spread goodness and help in world where he holds the strongest position.
sorry i did not know that your country is also confronting with bitter social issues .i thought such problems belong to countries like mine where people in power are not honest with their obligations .
i am truly grateful for Terry's recovery dear Louise ,i can relate because of sickness my husband went through after the completion of this house. he went through the cure course twice which was injecting in belly by himself .it was hardest time for me .this is why my first priority is always spending time with him!
