I like cloudy weather and i am happy that it is cloudy here since two days. Though periodically but it is good to have clouds on our sky.Strong winds blow them away before they can shower some drop and while doing so they sprinkle quite amount of sand over the ground how annoying.I Hope this game of wind and clouds can hold extreme heat for more while .
I have finished my first audio book "Alexander The Great "by Jacob Abbot through librivox.org though it was not my first choice. I started to listen Brain And Personality by William Hanna Thomson firstly which was brief detail how human brain rules the body and makes our mind .I found it really interesting but i found it difficult to comprehend the technical terms while listening so i search to read it online .It is an amazing book for those who want to understand relations between brain and mind (count me on top of the list).I am enjoying it thoroughly .I manage to read it after evening prayer for at least half hour.I am in the middle of it now.
History comes after science when it comes to read books in this part of age.I was fond of romantic and adventurer in my youth. So i liked knowing about Greek conqueror who within 13 years changed course of history by invading and conquering the huge part of land including part of Asia .Though all he did was wasted right after his death and today no one know where he is even buried. The last famous words of Alexander were not included in the audio book but if he had said so he earned real victory because his last words reveal his regret and sorrow for his earlier doings.
"Bury my body ,don't build any monument,Leave my hands outside so that the world knows the person who won the world has nothing in his hands when dying"
According to writer in his last years of life Alexander had became a heavy drinker and was totally lost in pride and luxury while considering himself a son of Jupiter (god). His wars could not harm him more than his lust for keeping himself within extremely luxurious environment that killed him eventually .Jacob Abbot the writer called Alexander a mere Robber at the end of this book. And i think he is right because if one has power and authority to invade others home ,kill and rob them ,he will stay robber no matter how big emperor he was.
I know world has beard such cruel rulers for centuries and in every nation.I am happy that strategy for the ruling the world has changed since 19th century and life has opened her comforting arms for common people finally. Though nations with power and resources still have found ways to control weaker nations. But i am positive that some day people will learn that their real victory is to walk towards betterment of life on this planet by holding each other's hand and embracing mutual respect and equality.Because not a single man has come to this world with stamp by God (nature) that he has right to rule or decide for others.I can understand that Freedom is proves to being a new toy for people and they are being experimental with it in extreme excitement. But i think within one or two centuries they will understand finally that freedom is not a toy to play with but gift and blessing to use it for better and higher cause that can benefit humanity as a whole on earth.
I am listening another audio book now .It is Science History Of Universe by Francis Rolt Wheeler. I will talk about it when it is finished.
My knee pain is quite better now by the grace of lord! I feel always thankful for the kindness you all friends show in your comments!Thank you for being my strength and support friends .Creator will be repaying you for this sweet gesture i believe!
some yard blooms and garden that has tremendous healing energy.Wishing for some rain that can wash it's lovely face .
captured last noon when clouds covered the sky and hope for rain made me happy
wire you see here belong to removable shade that we have fixed in front yard to lessen the heat effect as sun reflection on yard marble floor increase heat ,shade covers area of ten feet in yard that works fine
Keep taking good care and keep being kind to you and to all you have around you !
Blessings to all of you!
I read a lot too. I always did. Right now I am reading a very light little story. I really like biographies. I am afraid if I listened to the audio books I would fall asleep. It would be so soothing to me.
ReplyDeleteOh I really wish I can find time to read like you dear Emma
DeleteI was waiting for such free time for years so I can read without being disturbed.
But a new way came into my mind when I was listening voice messages of my sister in law. I am so happy I found this way now I can listen books at least until I find free time for reading
I am pleased for you that your knee is getting better Baili, I am ashamed that I tend to read very shallow, materialistic books most of the time! You have such a passion to learn and for history and wisdom, your latest reading is interesting - to leave someones hands exposed in death is a very dramatic statement - I prefer cremation by the way, something about burial I find haunting/frightening!
ReplyDeleteI agree with age as our understanding thickens our choices become better including for reading.
DeleteAs for fear of death ,I too suffered with it long ago for years .I will try to share it in my post I hope .specially fear of Labour for breath would make me shiver when I would think about being buried.
But since I have realised that all fears belong to body only and not soul I feel free and light.now i can even wish for death in hope that I may find chance to meet who created me and loved me as much.his love has overcame in all worldly love believe me :)
Pretty photos, glad you are learning lots from audiobooks, a good thing. And glad your knee pain is better.
ReplyDeletethank you Christine ,learning is truly huge source of pleasure :)
DeleteIt is great to hear your knee is improving, Baili. I always love your blooms!
ReplyDeletethank you dear Marie
DeleteGlad you're enjoying audio books! I find that if I listen to a book being read on audio tapes/CDs/whatever, that it puts me right to sleep. It's like being read a bedtime story!
ReplyDeleteI LISTEN AUDIO BOOK WHEN I COOK IN KITCHEN ,I HAVE TO REPEAT PART THAT I MISS DURING CLANKING of stuff ,i think it can better my listening sense
DeleteI hate to e pessimistic but I don't think we will get things sorted out . there are too many small minds. We have to learn to live with each other and look at our talents and not look for differences that set us apart.
ReplyDeletei be optimistic because i think if i will prove law of attraction absolutely correct dear Red ,at least that part
Delete"WHAT YOU FEEL ,YOU CREATE"
I SPEND LIFE BEING GOOD AND HOPEFUL TO THOSE EVEN WHO SEEM TO LOOSE 99 PERCENT OF THEIR GOODNESS ,I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS STILL HOPE AND MAY BE THERE IS SOME GOODNESS REMAINED HIDDEN INSIDE THEM BENEATH ALL THE TRASH AND MAY BE IT CAN COME OUT ONCE THEY ARE REMINDED REPEATEDLY THAT THEY ARE GOOD .
IF IN FUTURE EDUCATIONISTS RISE LIKE ONCE AGAIN LIKE RENAISSANCE ERA THEY CAN REMIND PEOPLE THAT HUMANITY AND EQUALITY IS IN THEIR OWN AND BEST INTEREST .
IT IS POSSIBLE THAT LEADER OF ALL COUNTRIES WOULD AGREE TO REVOLUTIONIZE THE EDUCATION SYSTEM AT ONCE.A NEW HISTORY WOULD BE CREATE TO INSTALL IN PEOPLE THAT THEY CAME FROM ONE SOURCE AND THEIR SURVIVAL DEPENDS ON STRENGTH OF THEIR ABSOLUTE HARMONY .
AND WITHIN A OR FEW CENTURIES A SINGLE RACE AND RELIGION RISE CALLED HUMANITY WITH ONE CREED OF MUTUAL RESPECT AND BONDING ,EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE BECAUSE NATURE IS WAITING FOR OUR CORRECT CHOICE AND DECISION SO CAN SUPPORT US FOR FURTHER SURVIVAL WHICH CAN ALLOW US FLOURISH AS SUCCESSFUL SPECIE WITHIN UNIVERSE AND EXPLORE THE SECRET OF LIFE AND ALL WE EXIST WITHIN
I also like history and am intrigued by those who came before us. What I don't understand is why we keep doing the same things over and over again and never learn from our mistakes. A friend once told me that money is just the stepping stone to the the prize, which is achieving power. Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac. I never understood how that could lead to happiness and I have been fine without either.
ReplyDeletewe seek power when we seek control over others ,it happens when we feel weak ,we feel weak when think we are alone ,when we deny the biggest truth of our life that we are here as representative of creator ,part of divine energy who has created us and surrounded us with it's overwhelming presence ,when we feel lost and weak we seek power and find joy in controlling others ,it makes us feel better but such pleasure does not last longer because anything that goes against Nature brings destruction eventually.
Deletenot those who feel strong and daring never seek for power because he find himself powerful already and this strength comes to him through his relay and faith on One who has send him here with promise that if he sticks with his laws he will be given protection ,this obedience though is like hard fight with his own part of being that attracts easily by worldly temptations .
real power comes from inside and with absolute faith on one who made us and on our own selves One who can conquer himself is most powerful person in the world i believe
Absolutely true, dear Baili.
DeleteIn Macau we feel Summer approaching.
ReplyDeleteIt's hot and sunny.
may it be nice ti all of you Pedro
DeleteSo glad you are enjoying the audio books. Your photos are so beautiful.
ReplyDeletei am so happy i found way back to connect with books :)
DeleteI am very glad that your knee pain has improved.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the beauty around you. I have not yet tried audio books. I like to stop and think about things - and print books suit me best at the moment.
i agree that reading is best way dear EC ,for better than audio books ,because it awakens and empowers one's imagination and this plays important roll in our personality over all ,i know this because i used to read a lot in past and i hope i will regain my pleasure back in future
DeleteYou really are reading a lot - and learning. Good for you. I enjoy reading about what u are reading . Lately I haven't read much at all. Always love the beautiful flower photos you post.
ReplyDeletei am unable to find appropriate time portion for reading Sandy so i am listening audio books and enjoying this new hobby so much
DeleteGlad you are enjoying your audio books! Loving your flower photos!! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeletethank you dear Stacy!
DeleteDearest Baili, your books sound fascinating, and I'm so glad you're enjoying them! It is good to have something to focus on when you have a spare moment, isn't it... especially when it is a subject that really interests you!😊
ReplyDeleteI wholeheartedly agree with you, my dear friend. So many of those past conquerors in the past have ridden roughshod over people and have become even more corrupted by a sense of their own importance.
I agree, too, that real freedom will only be gained through tolerance and love between people and between nations. There is far too much division. No one is any more important than anyone else. We are all just people. We are all equal in the sight of our Creator, and to act as if it weren't so, is disrespectful to Him.🙁
On a more positive note 😉 your garden looks really stunning!
And I'm so glad your knee is much better.😊😊
Have a lovely day...and stay safe, my precious friend 🙏🙏
Much love and hugs ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
i used to read romantic novels and adventure stories ,suspense ,thriller series dear Ygraine but it was when i was young ,now i find myself far curious than ever before and specially i want to know what is this scenario of life and universes ,i want to know what is my source though i can feel him around and within me yet this feeling leads me towards more curiosity and eagerness to find about Him more and more
Deleteso i decided to pick such books that can help me to understand it ,i think this is just beginning ,i will be sharing what i will be finding for sure
i am glad that we are out of the era of the captivity of human and human mind ,i truly believe that no matter how disappointing the situation we find today ,someday some enlightened people will stand and try to change the map of human thinking for better .
our mindset is completely selfish and self centered today but when it comes to surviving family members become close and try to face and defeat bothering circumstances together ,i will not last but i think it will happen someday in future
Hello dear Baili, you seem to read - and listen - very interesting and useful books.
ReplyDeleteYou have posted lovely photos here. We have still some snow and today it's snowing, wet snow though.
Thank you for your interesting comment today. I think I couldn't read an important book on a phone, only something I don't need to remember. :)
Stay safe and well, dear Baili!
i agree that stories are okay to listen but books with important knowledge must be read carefully to understand and remember dear Sarah :)
ReplyDeleteFirst, I was happy to read that your knee has improved, Baili, and hopefully that pain will not be happening again, but then things do have a way of coming back (sadly). Your choice of audio books is far more detailed than my own, which lately has been mostly historical fiction, which are somewhat based on facts with liberties taken as far as characters and dialogue. I also enjoy mysteries and find that i need to really pay attention when listening to those. For me it's when doing household chores, folding laundry, preparing foods when I don't need to consult a recipe. The books you have been enjoying are not what I could listen to or even read because I do not have that passion and interest on the same level as your own. And, dear friend, I do so admire that you have the desire to always learn something new. It is indeed wonderful and thanks for sharing some of that learned information in your blog posts.
ReplyDeletei grew up with obsession with radio listening dear Dorothy and your comment reminded me days when while listening historic or mystery on radio i would develop really strong connection with characters and dialogues as i was part of scenario .listening audio books and radio for long definitely nurture our imagination .
Deletei never planned my hobbies or choices of books .i do what i feel (once it's confirmed it is harmless for anyone of course) since few years i am feeling desire to know about our origin and it feels to get stronger ,i am trying to follow things that may be satisfy my question at any level .now i am realizing math has special and main character in all this happening and i am trying put foot on very first step of it ,this is the reason for my interest in science and math actually
So pleased to read that your knee has improved.
ReplyDeleteYou seem to be enjoying the audio books.
A very nice collection of photographs here, pretty blooms.
My good wishes.
All the best Jan
Hi, dear Baili! I am glad to hear that your knee is getting better. You are reading/listening to two books that I would really enjoy. That quote by Alexander the Great is powerful. It's true; no matter what we have in life, we leave empty-handed. I have a friend who loves to listen to audio books while she is cleaning the barn and looking after her four horses. It's the only time she has time to "read" books. Me, I don't hear well enough to listen to audio books. But I read at night for about an hour before I go to sleep. You have a passion for learning, and you find a way to do it, Baili. That is an admirable quality! I hope you will have more time to read sooner rather than later.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand the desire for power or the need to control other people. I pray every night for peace in our world, for compassionate and effective leaders, and for the healing of our planet. Even though I struggle with faith at times, I find the practice of prayer and gratitude comforting and hopeful.
Terry and I have been watching the history channel's series "The Vikings" on Amazon. It originally aired from 2013 - 2020. Even though it is violent, I find it fascinating because it focuses on gaining and keeping power and the conflict between the newer Christian religion and the old Norse religion. It also shows early attempts at democracy and the power of kings. Women were powerful in Viking society, and I keep telling Terry I would have been a shield maiden. Women and men both fought in battle, and there were a lot of battles. We only have eight more episodes to watch, and I am sad because I have found the series so interesting and I hate to see it end.
Thank you for sharing your lovely flowers, Baili. We have dandelions sprouting in our lawns, but so far there haven't been many flowers blooming. We've had snowstorm after snowstorm. In another three weeks or so, we should be past the threat of snow and spring will be in full bloom.
Terry continues to recover. I'll be relieved when he can start his heart rehab in the next few weeks. I'm so grateful that I didn't lose him.
Please take care, my friend, and may the heat stay away for a good while yet! Hugs to you!
I read different versions about Alexander the Great.
ReplyDeleteGlad your knee getting better, Baili. Thank you for sharing your beautiful flowers.
Have a wonderful weekend!
É interessante você gostar de ouvir áudio livros. Alexandre o Grande foi tudo: aventureiro, conquistador, cruel, guerreiro. Fez a guerra. Fez a paz...
Beijinhos! Feliz semana!
Ana
I am glad your knee is recovering. The blooms in your yard are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI too am an avid reader. Mostly history, science, nature and spirituality.
