Hello Dear Friends 🥰
Hope all of you are having blissful times!
First of all heartfelt thank you for your kind comments on my previous post 🥹🥰♥️ your encouragement is my strength 🙏♥️♥️♥️♥️
We are going through extremely hot weather these days. It’s 11am and temperature is 40 Celsius.you can imagine the rise of temperature as sun moves further throughout the day 😭 . Sometimes I doubt if I have lost my ability to bear heat or summer seems has been really bothering overall for all over the world. Anyway for the first time I feel that I am suffering because of heat which seems to filled in the environment like air in the balloon and pressurising us when move around. It’s bad.
Good thing that despite that burning pressure I am able to do my house chores even when hubby yells at me to stop trying to get sick 😅
I have shared in my prior to the previous post that in my opinion drinking tea excessively from early teenage has weakened my bones. I thought so because my elders, mom particularly and later in life hubby would forbid me to do so . They would say that taking too much tea is harmful to overall health. We didn’t have internet then to verify the fact quickly. Even when we got internet few years ago idea of checking it didn’t cross my mind. Somedays ago when I was asking my younger son to stay cautious about the tea consumption he immediately checked and said that you are right about not taking tea right after meals but see there is a really little amount of nicotine in the tea 0.7 mcg which is not dangerous at all unless you are excessive drinker .
I felt little relieved honestly. Also embarrassed that why I couldn’t check it earlier. One thing I forgot to ask you friends that have you too been drinking tea which had nicotine ???
Can you share that how many cups of tea you would took in young age and have you reduced the amount now ??
Another question that I forget to ask you in winter mild season , that do you use spray for flies and mosquitoes inside or outside? Do you have to mask before doing so because it hurts your nose and throat immediately???
We have changed many sprays but none have been harmless to us. Each time eldest son asks before coming home that what he should bring for me and I don’t say anything. But I think I will ask him to bring some vitamins and sprays next time hopefully 😅
When extreme heat dims the mind and I am unable to read in spare time I watch some knowledgeable videos . Last week I found our very famous and one of the most popular writer Mustansar Hussain Tarar ‘s conversation at the art council on his latest book inauguration. He has written around 70 books among them majority is translated into English language. Some of his works are being taught in Masco university since thirty years. If you are interested to know more you can check details Here . Watching him after long time made me feel nostalgic because I had read few of his books in my school library. About thirty seven years back he has hosted first morning show on national television which made him popular in remote areas to the common people who were unfamiliar with his written works. This also made me realise that I should buy Urdu literature books as well that bring back the memories of my old days full of reading 😊
I think this is enough for now. I have to go to the kitchen to make lunch. Keep me in prayers so I can get back to the room walking on my feet and not getting faint with heat 😂
Sending you all heartfelt best wishes and love ❤️
Stay blessed every moment amen 🥰🙏
Oh, I am still wondering about this tea you drank so much when you were young...and now to know of the nicotine. I will confess I was drinking coffee by the time I was three. That was the only way my mom could get me to drink milk. But it was only a cup in the morning. I still drink coffee. Of course, here in the states soft drinks are a big thing and living in Texas Dr. Pepper was a favorite, but even then my mom didn't want me to have too much sugar so I drank diet, but not even much of that. However, the well water I drank which was high in something that made my teeth stronger, also stained them.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, your son can bring something like a machine or maybe certain candles that can keep the bugs away. They can be a problem, everywhere. Thanks so much for being here. I hope things cool down. Thanks for your comments too. All the best to your beautiful creativity. 💗💗💗💗💗
Dear Ellie, thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences!
DeleteI think I am become little bit obsessive about how I got osteoarthritis in early fifties and try to find justification for it 😅
You I surly have a very caring mother who tried hard to keep you away from harmful foods and drinks. I too fought such battle while my sons were growing up. It was tough to stop them from drinking soft drinks and fast food.
How wonderful that drinking certain water made your teeth stronger.but this is bad it stained them . Hope you found treatment for that my friend.
Stay blessed!
I drank a certain amount of tea as a teenager, but never more than maybe 1 or 2 cups per day. I've never even heard of nicotine in tea?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing dear Debra
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if long time consumption of tea can (containing nicotine) can cause bone disease. But as I told younger son searched on google which showed answer that tea has really little amount of nicotine which isn’t harmful. Yes tea has nicotine and I am wondering when and from where I have known this fact long time ago
Baili, I drink one cup of tea and that is for breakfast. Rarely do I have two cups a day, just on an odd occasion. Years ago I drank about 3 cups of tea a day, but I drink water mainly.
ReplyDeleteWe have fly spray in the house incase it's need. All our doors and windows have fly screens so no use for fly spray and if outside we don't use it either, only on a rare occasion if a naught wasp keeps coming near us.
I found this for you probably similar as to what you son found...
'Yes, all types of tea, including Dilmah tea, contain trace amounts of nicotine. However, the quantity is very small and not considered harmful. Studies have shown that tea leaves may contain up to 0.7 mcg of nicotine per 1/2 tablespoon (1 gram) of dry weight. This amount is so small that it's not addictive and doesn't cause any negative side effects. Additionally, the nicotine in tea is absorbed differently than tobacco products, making it less harmful.'
Your temperature is very hot, and I'm told that as we get older we don't like the heat, we can't take is very well. I have never been in such heat.
Take care.
Heartfelt thanks for your detailed response dear Margaret 🥰
DeleteI really appreciate how less tea you have been taking throughout your life which sounds wise and appropriate 👍
Yes we got this one exactly from google and it was nice to know that I didn’t sent heavy loads of nicotine into my body.
Now I am to check on caffeine if it was the culprit 😭😊🤭
Yes I realised that I am finding myself more vulnerable to the heat since past some years but this year seems worse ☹️
What feels annoying that temperatures shown on numbers don’t reflect the true severity of the heat .
Blessings to you my friend
Osteoporosis is caused by more than just diet. There are also genetic, race, and body size components. (For example, people with slight builds are more susceptible.)
ReplyDeleteThank you dear Kathy for adding to my knowledge 🙏
DeleteMy mother and aunt would complain about knee pain as far as I remember but mom remained walking until her mid seventies nor she went through some certain treatment or surgery.all she did was picking herbs and buying dry herbs as well from market and make special recipes for her such issues. I wish I could have given more attention to her efforts and learned useful stuff which seemed more like traditional home remedies told by her mother or grandmother. Those remedies did not have any side affects.
So yes my osteoarthritis can be linked to genetics but one thing that I was thinking until my eighteen, after that I was different,I mean healthy looking but not healthy actually
Even though the heat is excessive your people have some idea of how to live in heat. You have clothes that shield from the heat. I never thought about tea like you have. I like tea but I don't think I drink too much.
ReplyDeleteDear Red people living on different parts of the world learn to survive eventually. Me and hubby more wonder about people living in deserts or spooky heights of mountains.how they manage living there keep us thinking
DeleteGlad that you have kept balance in taking tea 😊
I wasn’t a tea drinker as a youth, late teens maybe a cup a day. Nicotine was ever a consideration however. Today we only drink tea when we have a picnic.
ReplyDeleteBaili, when I find it hot here, I think of you and the heat you experience. I hope you can stay cool my friend. I won’t complain of the heat we experience.
dear Marie !
Deletesounds like a blessing that you like my eldest and youngest son weren't fond of tea , i feel grateful that both of my sons hardly like to take tea except in morning time after breakfast but it's not regular habit thankfully unlike me
how nice you take tea only during picnic :) and here we take tea as feeling of picnic and i just realized that :)
our heat is absolutely dreadful my friend . it was a big shock when i moved here after my marriage but with time i learned to survive but not thrive with this type of heat sadly .these few months from May to the end of September are test for my nerves every year which seems to get tougher with age
Reading your words feels like catching up with a dear friend on a quiet afternoon. I felt every bit of the heat you described and admired your strength to keep going despite it. Your reflections on tea, family, and Mustansar Hussain Tarar brought a warm sense of nostalgia—thank you for sharing so openly.
ReplyDeleteNew post: www.melodyjacob.com
dear Melody having no option mean one has to embrace what he got .Hubby had family and govt job here so i learned to live in such heat extreme heat .
DeleteGoodness your temperatures are high, so important to keep hydrated.
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy a cup of tea and over the course of the day have quite a few but in between I do have sips of water too, and end my day with some milk ... this comes from childhood as the family would always have a drink of milk before bedtime. Many have their milk warm but I prefer mine chilled :)
Take care of yourself dear Baili.
All the best Jan
many thanks for sharing your thoughts dear Jan !
Deleteseems like you drink tea few times a day and have water time to time as well . i have to reduced my tea intake because of stomach issue which seems to swell up if i take tea more than two cups or rarely three cup in case i am visiting someone . my parents too had tradition for taking milk at before bedtime but i was tough to convince for doing so unfortunately . but after my marriage hubby ' insistence made me drink a small glass of milk (warm) before bed and now it has been 32 years to stick with this routine
sending you heartfelt best wishes my friend !
Sorry. I agree with your husband. No cleaning is as important as your health. If you must, choose just one area to clean each day and no more. Unfortunately chemicals are the only way I know that works to keep the insects at bay. Planting marigolds do repel mosquitoes.
ReplyDeletedear Emma thank you so much for sweet words!
Deletei agree ,but we have big house with three rooms ,big veranda and huge yard so each time sandstorm hits and everything needs cleaning once again so it's impossible to see everything full of dust front of the eyes and avoid cleaning . i know it is bad for my osteoarthritis but hiring domestic help is risky when you know no one around
i will keep in mind and share with hubby about Marigolds resisting insects ,i did not know this
Hi Baili, I seldom drink tea. I started drinking it occasionally at about 17 years old. When other teenage girls would visit my home we would have tea as that was the custom however mine would always get cold as I hardly drank it. Now a days I might have one cup late at night especially if it's cold. For many years I drank Rooibos tea which is from a bush in South Africa. There is no caffeine it. But my DH has introduced me to a special blend from the Middle East. It has caffeine and is very tasty. He is new to it and introduced by one of his colleagues. Mostly I drink coffee. I was introduced to it late in life. It was social thing for me to join work colleagues on coffee break. I didn't enjoy it much but have always enjoyed the aroma. These days I like coffee very much, lol. I do hope the weather will provide some relief from the heat for you. It seems as we grow older the weather patterns get more extreme plus we find it harder to cope with the heat or the cold.
ReplyDeleteheartfelt thanks for detailed comment dear friend Joyful !!!
Deletei enjoyed knowing about how your house and most probably the society had tradition to offer tea to the guests :) we have this tradition here as well and since i came into my senses i saw this happening everywhere .except since some year when cold drinks have included into the routine but majority of guests asks for the tea eventually .though new generation likes cold drinks more than tea i realized . Rooibos tea sounds wonderful . i checked on google and it looked like herbal or green tea to me . hope
your newly recommended tea by you DH is healthy and delicious :)
we can drink coffee only in winters here due to extreme heat . but i feel that only one cup of coffee keeps me awake even if i take it during noon times which is weird because people have coffee without such issues at all except they take it late night .does taking tea late night not affect your sleep cycle ?
Hello dear Baili, yes Rooibos tea is an herbal tea and I believe the word translates to red bush. It is quite delicious, not too strong. I drink it plain. The tea my husband has brought home is quite delicious but it is black tea so it has caffeine. I only drink one cup on alternate nights or less often and I add milk. The funny thing is that tea will always keep me awake when I should be sleeping. That is the main reason I learned to start drinking coffee. Oddly enough the caffeine in coffee doesn't keep me awake. I know some people are very sensitive to coffee just like I'm very sensitive to the caffeine in tea. I never used to drink it after 4 p.m. I've noticed lately I haven't slept well. Maybe I need to get strict again about the black tea. We are all so different in terms of what affect us. Green tea also has caffeine by the way and so the last time I drank it it kept me awake all night. It's a pity because green tea is healthy.
DeleteThere is something in tea that hurts my stomach. It doesn't matter if it is decaf or not. I do drink coffee on occasion but I do like soda pop. I always drink the sugarless kind. In the garden, due to fertilizer, there are flies. I found this sticky things and boy do they work. I got them on amazon. I will email you the link. If I ever use sprays, yes, please wear a mask. Also take care of your health. Nothing else matters.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much dear Nichole for your considerate words ! they warm my heart :)!
Deleteyes hurting stomach was the reason i had to reduced my tea intake some years back .if i would take more than two cups the stomach would feel like it's swelling and got heavy so inevitably i had to take less tea eventually .discarding tea is hardest lol hope the drink you prefer to take now is completely harmless !
how sweet of you to sending me link via email Nichole and reading this somehow my mind reminded me that you have mentioned some kind of email you will send me quite a time ago but it slipped my mind totally .my email box receives tones of junk emails and i don't know how to stop them so i just don't check my email since long time unless some important one has to come and i am informed through whatsapp first (from family or friends ) . i will try to keep check on email to find yours
i am trying my best to take good care of myself dear friend!!!
Sweet Baili, I'm sorry you are struggling with the awful heat already! I know how exhausting the heat makes me feel, and I feel for you too. It really saps my energy. I drink a lot of tea, but I don't drink any that I know of that have nicotine in them. I've started just drinking hot water instead of tea especially before bedtime, and that seems to help me sleep better. Please take care of yourself and get lots of rest - that is more important than your housework! Blessings to you dear friend!
ReplyDeletemany thanks for lovely words dear Marilyn !
Deletewe were planning to go to Islamabad as soon as possible but younger son said he wants to celebrate Eid ( sacrifice Eid on 7th June) at home so we had to stay in such heat for more twenty days :(
your habit of having healthier tea and warm water before bed sounds impressive :)
our sandstorms are so annoying and bring loads of extra hardwork for two months :(
blessings to you too dear friend!
Baili, your temperatures are much hotter than when we lived in VA and it's why we decided to relocate because of the hot summers, but then we have had some hot weather in NH as well, just not the same as before. I only drink a single cup of coffee in the morning and then 1 cup of tea later in the day, usually a flavored type. We do not use any sort of insect sprays now that we live in an apt, but then I cannot recall that we ever used them extensively in our homes, except perhaps sparingly for an occasional wasp as I really dread that insect most.
ReplyDeleteYour husband is correct in cautioning you to take it easy in the heat as the house projects will always be there when the weather is cooler and certainly we do not want you to faint, dear friend.
Dear Dorothy respond to your comment went far below I wonder why.blogger playing tricks again
DeleteI love tea.
ReplyDeleteBut can't drink very strong tea or coffee.
My heart races if I try it.
coming back dear Dorothy to respond
ReplyDeleteUma boa semana.
Um beijo.
Thanks dear Grace 🥰
DeleteI am sorry that hot weather makes you breathe with discomfort, I am not familiar with such issue but asthma only . In my observation Asthma patients suffer in winters with uncomfortable breathing.
This is nice that you too have healthy habit and having tea like all my blog friends 🤗
Dear Dorothy ♥️
ReplyDeleteHeartfelt thanks for your sweet words 🙏🥰
I don’t know VA stands for Virginia or else but I didn’t know that some American or western parts have intense summer seasons as well.
Hope the weather is good where you live now 👍
You indeed have healthy habits regarding tea or coffee 👌🥰
Lucky you 🤗 healthy eating and drinking habits are such a blessing but we know it later in life sadly. Blessed are those like you who stay cautious since young age 🙏
Unlike you we live in open big house with wide yard which makes it difficult for us to get out and sit peacefully because we insects . Although we use lotions to keep them away but they work for the while.
I fully understand that working in extreme heat can be threatening but as I said sandstorms shower tons of sands and everything gets dusty densely and doing nothing or sitting among such mess seems impossible. Every summer season brings such topics between me and hubby and I just wonder what to do 😅
Blessings and you ♥️
Dear Baili,
ReplyDeleteIn heat that wraps the world like wool,
You stand, though weary, brave and full—
Of tea and thoughts, of chores and care,
Of memories drifting through sunlit air.
Nicotine myths now gently unwind,
And Mustansar’s words refresh the mind.
With sprays that sting and sons who try,
You greet each day with strength held high.
Though summer scorches, soul stays sweet,
May shade and blessings find your feet.
Keep reading, smiling, sharing true—
Warm wishes rise and flow to you. 🫖📚🌞
John
PS Thank you for your kind comment on my recent post!
Dear John 🥰
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and brilliant poem 🙏👍♥️
I feel it’s beyond my simple words to say thank you for such generosity 🥹😊
I really enjoyed how wonderfully you articulated everything in rhyme 👌
You inspired me with your wit and wisdom 🙏
More goodness to you my friend 🥰
I had not realised that there was Nicotine in tea. But on researching it I found that the tea leaf has trace amounts! I also found that the level of nicotine in tea does not lead to health problems.
