Being from here i can sense that main target of the most of the people in society is still to have a family life . Children grow under the influence of parents which is still quite strict except in few lager urban cities. Parents support their children financially until they are settled and emotionally throughout the life. Most of the parents choose life partner for their kids and their influence remains unchallenged upon all family decisions till they live. Youth tries to adjust with this attitude somehow most of the times.
Youth with liberty to choose life partner for themselves get married to whom they fall in love with and live separately. So family ,partner ,marriage and children are the main things around which life circles here mostly until now. I find it fascinating and appropriate way to spend life. I think despite of modern trends wide spread in western world there too are so many people who live such life bound in emotions and relationships and find it fulfilling and meaningful way to live.
Hollywood has created some of the most beautiful love stories no doubt .But Bollywood has all the spices that give perfect flavor to their romantic movies to touch hearts here .And it is because of it's charming culture they portray on screen and mesmerize with their powerful reflection of feelings that is blend of east and west both which makes it more appealing for spectator.
In early movies the idea that dominated most of the films was encounter between rich and poor to which hero and heroin belongs. Hundreds of filmmakers presented it in so many different ways and most of the times it was hit and popular. People are most interested how two people in love go through hardships to unite and live happily eve rafter. Though after 2000 trend slowly changed and films came with different topics many were liked too . But whenever Bollywood tried hand in love stories with good directors they broke records of all times and ruled on cinema for longest period. They were hit in all other foreign countries as well where big south Asian community live. Some of the hits are these
I want to ask what you think friends ?
Do you too at heart like romantic movies most ?
Why ???
Do you think love stories will survive in future ?
My love for movies and shows even cartoon shows is Grave in which family ,friends ,love and other delicate human emotions are evolved. Though my favor is shifted towards complex ideas still in corner of my heart longing for a nice still exist and whenever i find one i run to watch it in first leisure time.
Thank you for bearing with me dear people !
health ,peace and joy to you and to all you love!
Love romantic movies, they will always survive
ReplyDeleteyou sound optimistic dear Christine and i found it comforting as a "Fan of love" i don't know how to say it nicely but love or romance have Broader meaning for me ,far broader than you can see in this trailer or you can see in any romantic movie . I can't help it but i think that the whole scenario of life and universe is dough with love and romance is encompassing everything we look at . it can be fault of my mind that i think this way but yes i do believe that whatever definition word love has i find all these characteristic in everything around . Nothing seems possible without it so i agree that no matter how how advanced the future will be love be taking place in cozy hearts to keep balance and the day it ends that will be last day of everything existing
DeleteI enjoy a good love story too. But a true love story is set in real life and therefore is rarely smooth or free of suffering. Romanticized love is a fairy tale.
ReplyDeletedear Debra suffering is not only part of love but part of life as well .actually suffering is an essential part of the game of life ,no one escape from it because design of life will be incomplete and meaningless without it . dear Debra life is runs on support of both things suffering and pleasure ,if supply from any pipe is delayed for some reason ,it will make clot which will burst finally and reach to us eventually . there is a saying that small hurdles prevent from big issues because they keep you on training and prepare you to face life more carefully .
Deletelove is not exception and as they say no love is complete without suffering because love is not luxury but blessing and each blessing demands sacrifice first in the form of pain ,and suffering . we all agree that we love most that we get with much effort aren't we :)
We do not get a lot of Bollywood movies here which is a shame. I know they have to be good. Good movies are great treat and appeal to everyone. I'm afraid media here shows the good and bad how society has changed in the States. I watched a lot of old movies with my mother. Surprisingly, some of the best were silent movies from the 1920s. I know they make a lot of action movies in the States because they sell well outside of the country.
ReplyDeletei agree that good movies appeal to everyone and language is no more a barrier ,we watch movie no matter how unfamiliar the language is once we find it compelling.
Deletedespite of i find most of indian movies loud and "over" i still like how they portray human emotions on screen . how powerfully they try to point out that human emotions are above everything .Love comes first when one decides to what to choose . I really admire this because i think this is very important thing to keep remind people of new age so we should not forget as humans how we are and what is our essence. Family and love to whom on choose as soulmate is top priority and this must remain this way always . i have seen so many holly wood love stories from ol to latest repeatedly till my mid forties and i think nothing can surpass their divinity and beauty . I world without love will be the world of Aliens because heartfelt emotions define humans .
I don't watch movies or TV. I spend my time on the computer. However, I should watch movies .
ReplyDeletei think it is because you find present and practical around you more appealing dear Red .
Deletebut you have life partner with whom you have spent most of your life which makes you one who believe in commitment and responsibility and i believe both are greater part of love :)
and you read books right and may be you too have found love stories appealing at some point of your age and may be you too agree that life without love is worthless
I do believe romantic movies will always be. Love is a part of life and makes us all feel good.
ReplyDeletetrue dear Emma ,despite my focus has changed towards mystery and thrillers which seem to sharpen my mind but when it comes to feel good truly it happens only when i watch some nice love story in which two people find each other their "right one " and fight hard physical or mental battle to be one . I find it an event highly spiritual and so universal as whole universe smiles on them for their struggle and how selflessly they bear hardships as they were meant to do so anyway .it is really fulfilling to find meaning and beauty in life
DeleteLove stories are and always will be a hit, baili.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week
thank you for giving hope dear Pedro .
Deleteit is good to know that in your part of land love stories are popular as well which means people still have simplicity and faith in goodness :)
There is nothing like a good romantic movie that pulls at the heart strings whether it's a comedy, suspense, adventure and so on they are all usually good. There will always be a need for people to watch romantic movies I feel, Baili.
ReplyDeleteyour words reflect my thoughts dear Margaret :)
Deleteno matter what is the type of movies love between family members makes it attractive and meaningful to audience . i loved watching "River Wild" many times and so many movies like it because human emotions portrayed in them touch heart and refresh faith in love .to feel "human" to feel alive and to feel rich and serene romantic movies always help greatly
I have always enjoyed how Bollywood can show how to dance through life with love and friendship. It's a deeper romance than you find in those Hollywood love stories. I feel Asian films give a certain romance that westerners yearn for. Of course, I always adore the music and the dancing. However, I'm not sure I'm a romantic person in Hollywood standards. Such an interesting topic🌸💕💗
ReplyDeletethis is nice to know that you too enjoy Indian cinema dear Ellie
ReplyDeletei don't know deeper but yes romance shown in Bollywood movies is significant, more rich and vital .though emotions sounds larger but suits well to what mindset people own here until now actually . expression are lively and vibrant but convey underlying message in an intriguing way. Character look less intense may be but their simplicity and charm approaches heart beautifully. at some certain age i also liked the music and dance indian movies offered as both genre appeal senses and say everything in more delightful or passionate way .
as far as Asian romance(on screen) being more appealing is because of the passion lucidity displayed so vividly i think .
how can a writer be without romance dear Ellie ,i think each creative heart understands and portrays emotions more effectively in life
I always enjoy Bollywood movies. The dancing and music are wonderful and the costumes are always fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy a good love story. Love survives all maner of difficulties and the best love stories capture these human difficulties.
ReplyDeleteHi, Baili! I have seen a few Bollywood movies and have enjoyed them very much. I watched the trailer, and I think I would enjoy this movie as well. I think there will always be love stories and movies made about love stories, because humans are wired to fall in love and to be in relationships. It was interesting to learn that most parents still choose a life partner for their kids and their influence remains unchallenged upon all family decisions. I had wondered if this was changing because of the impact of being exposed to western and other cultures.
ReplyDeleteTerry and I have been watching "90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way." We got caught up in watching it in Hawaii, and we continued to watch it once we returned home. One of the couples included a 48-year-old American woman Jen and a thirty-two-year old Indian man Rishi. They were secretly engaged for three years. They were really in love, but the moment his family learned about the engagement, they were against the marriage and forbade it. Jen couldn't understand it at all when Rishi chose his family commitments over her, especially when he had initially said he would choose her over his family. It was heartbreaking. Their ongoing story has been like a disaster in slow motion. She didn't understand the cultural pressure Rishi was under, and he couldn't understand how she wouldn't live in his family home or at least close by. So on last night's episode they broke up. It was so sad, but it was inevitable. The pull of family and tradition is powerful.
"90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way" is about real people, with an American person falling in love with someone who lives in another country which has a different culture. That's what makes it fascinating. I think it's very hard to overcome cultural differences (especially when the language and religion are different). After a lifetime of experience I think it's wiser to marry within your own culture or a very similar one. I'm not say that cross-cultural relationships can't work; I'm saying that it makes your relationship much more challenging and less likely to succeed.
That said, falling in love is a very powerful experience, and it sets up a lot of drama in stories and in real life. That's why there will always be love stories!
Hugs to you, my dear friend!
thank you for taking time and sharing your treasured thoughts on topic dear Louise !
Deletei secretly wait for your comment each time because it is in detail and knowledgeable .
how nice you too have watched few Bollywood movies though i don't know what kind of those movies were but if they were love stories and specially made by popular directors they might live in your heart for long because of the depth and intensity of emotions they reveal and so beautifully .
the show you mentioned sounds great and intriguing .
the story you shared about two people with quite age difference is heartbreaking specially when they remained engaged for three years .
i think cross cultural marriages succeed many times . i have watched some interviews of Muslim men successful in particular field and living in pakistan with English wife ,German ,and American ladies who dress just like Pakistani women and speak urdu impressively.my first such discovery was when i was young and would read magazines .once i found such couple interview and ran to my mom and showed her photos of couple with their short story of life. few months back again i watched such video in which couple seemed to have normal married life . i specially loved when man said that my family likes her more than me .
i am glad that such positive things happen . actually Pakistan has strict culture than India so when such things comes in knowledge i feel it is all about what kind of person one is and how flexible is his or her attitude to adjust as comfortably .feels miraculous indeed. and i think flexibility comes only when you love someone beyond terms and conditions and understand the values of society you are going to be part of .
i am not defending strict rules but as my keen eye on the principles mother nature i believe in "balance" not anything else and balance is basic thing that keeps everything on it's correct place .without balance everything becomes so harmful and toxic for all of us .
i wish we can understand this before it's too late
thank you for leaving with Hope that love stories will survive because people will keep falling in love forever .i hope no future revolution will change this amen
I enjoy a romantic story if it's well done and somewhat realistic. I think these types of movies will continue to flourish.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to read your opinion on all this and the difference between bollywood and hollywood. For myself I enjoy more romantic comedies but once in awhile a really good love story is intriguing and interesting. But right now for some reason I'm mainly hooked on Acorn App with British Detective stories. I love looking at the beauty of the English countrysides where most of these are filmed. I also love shows like Call the Midwife, and other shows placed in the 50's and 60's.
ReplyDeletethank you dear Sandy ,like you i too like to enjoy mystery and thriller more now but it does not mean the i have lost fondness for romantic movies . to me romantic films occupy higher place among all so i won't compare them to anything else .though i believe good romantic movies lack these days but once one arrives i like to watch it first :)
Deletel too enjoy light comedy show with sensible frame
it is nice to hear from you !
i liked the term realistic dear Martha
ReplyDeletei too don't feel comfortable to watch much sensual or superficial love stories with cheap tone and tongue .
i too hope that with all the knowledge flooded to humans it will not make every one cynical and hollow enough to quit faith in love .this is terrible to think of world without it's soul ,Scary
Baili, we have watched a lot of Hollywood rom-com films, and our preference is for older ones from the 1940-50s and even in black and white, many of these are still better than current ones. But, that's not to say we have not also enjoyed more current films, like Pretty Woman, When Harry Met Sally, You've Got Mail.
ReplyDeleteI do not watch horror, science fiction, or suspense-thriller type movies but do enjoy a good drama that does not involve violence. However, romantic comedies remain my favorite because they offer a lot of pleasant diversion from unhappiness in the world.
awe your last sentence says it so beautifully dear Dorothy :) yes movies full of love and beautiful emotions divert attention from the dark side of the world most and so enjoyable mostly . someone asked me once why i feel so happy with such stupid things i replied such stupidity that bring goodness in life and lighten our heart is blessings ,i love to see how it should be not ow it is .this is my kind of reality .if everyone else can create his own why can't i do so by believing in love and brighter side of the picture .
ReplyDeletei am lucky that i have seen some old movies from 40s to 70 on tv can't remember the all name who were in my mind for long though but Elizabeth Tylor ,Batty Davis and some more whom i liked so much . it is true that we all love movies that we can feel relate to .my own most fav are of 90s when i was young :) and i can repeat them when i am much older because of memories attached to those times .
i too don't like horrors much . but i have watched few when i was in mid thirties to 40 .no more now.
i watch Viking movies with hubby but personally they are out of my likening list actually.
I don't watch a lot of films or television but I enjoy reading a romantic story and I'm sure these books will survive.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I haven't watched a movie in years but I do read a lot. The last while I have been feeling very stressed and have been reading only light romances because it's the only way I can relax for a little time. I think people's natures are to want to raise the next generation, in general, even though there are always folks who cannot have children or do not want children. So love stories will always be a part of our nature too. Just my opinion :)
ReplyDeleteI have my TV on from the time I am up until I go to bed. Not just sitting watching but listening while I work. I do like a good love story and I hope they stay alive here in the US.
