Happy Eid And No Scholarship But We Got Relief From University

We all have different yearly celebrations to celebrate with our loved ones Despite they all have different background yet they share same purpose, to give us reason to ,show gratitude ,get together and have pleasant time with those we value in life.

Here in my homeland Pakistan we celebrated our yearly festival Eid Ul Fitar on 3rd may that follows at the end of Ramadan Month . On such special days we all miss our eldest son most but thanks to technology that we can see and listen to him on screen at least and for while .All parents who's children are away for various reason know what i mean.

This year Eid day came into stormy months which made it hard to keep house tidy as sand was showering down with wind constantly though sometimes it would get speedy and sometimes slow we still have that specific dull sky loaded with sand particles that pour down time to time . My excessive involvement in house cleaning gave me heavy doze of flue and sneezing and seems my mask failed to restrain the germs entering into my nose . I am still feeling feverish. I hope you consider my sharing just facts instead of complains. We some how had power during the two days of Eid thankfully which allowed us to watch some favorite tv shows together in some leisurely time. On the Eid evening i went to visit my mother in law and afterwards hubby gave me motorbike tour of our small city as usual . Sharing some images below all taken on eid day.

my younger son lost eight to ten pounds as he fasted for thirty days by the grace of lord! his first attempt to complete the all as usually he would take break after few and than continue but this year he did it . This was also a part of his joy besides the achievement he made while entering in best university of the country the Habib university . Let me share that my younger could not get scholarship despite of his 80% grads in high school and Sat . Officials from university gave the reason that students who applied  from Karachi city had  90% and plus marks so no place left for those who were under 90% . This was shocking and worrying for us so we emailed to the Dean and Financial Aid department and after some calls and emails things got better .yes  authorities agreed to off more than 50% of tuition fee and now we have to pay only forty five percent of it which is still a Huge for us yes and for which we will try to look "loan option" to pay it easily let's see what happens . despite of such worries we are happy that our younger son is going to be part of  a very impressive institution . He had make us proud and peaceful like his elder brother and hope he will continue to to do so in future .

my niece (my brother's daughter) sent few images yesterday , Actually my younger sister (second on right ) visited our brother on Eid day and they all together went to visit Khanpur dam ,so my niece wanted to show me her photo . pretty little girl on left is daughter of my sister from her second marriage ,the boy in sky blue shirt is her son ,other two children a little girl in pink in the mid and boy in yellow are also her children from third marriage ,her husband is standing in the middle .my sister in law on right. girl on left in pink is daughter of my cousin who is sister of my sister in law

on left is sister of my sister in law (my first cousins) on right is my niece who sent these photos .in the middle is my sister sitting with ma Zehra who is one hundred and probably thirteen years ,she was our first neighbor in village and loved us like her own . she is seriously sick though she has survived from paralyzing and is able to sit again miraculously  .

That is all for now Precious people ,will be visiting you asap !
Please keep being kind to you and all around you as this is best gift you can give to yourself!
That is all for now pre

    1. dear Martha when i visited the university with my son i witnessed how wealthy people's children study there ,but i also saw university has abundance of students from high middle class and middle class even as appearance describes such things fairly . we are happy we got some relief though rest will still be tough to deal with but now we have to face it with Faith and courage with hope that Allah will show us way among which one is loan that university provides ,we have applied for it too waiting for response which is expected after Eid holidays that ends today on 6th of May .
tank you for kindness you always show in your generous best wishes! same for you and loved ones

  2. It is great you could communicate with your eldest on Eid. Modern technology has helped ease the distance between family members and friends for sure.

Your two youngest have grown up since I’ve been following your blog, Baili. Great news about the financial assistance for your youngest.

Great photos of your extended family. Since my husband is an only child and I have one brother, our family is small. We can only imagine what it’s like to have a large extended family.

    1. dear Marie heartfelt tanks for kind words ! so true about modern technology ,being parent i am truly thankful for how it helps us to connect with our family and friends for away from us and make us feel better when there is great possibility to fall into sadness .
yes time fly by astonishingly and quickly indeed and there is no way or point to stop it ,i remember when my second son born after ten years my eldest son i would pray may he never grow old and hubby and mom would scold me for this foolishness .we humans are so weak and float like string in the ocean of time and we have to move according to waves of destiny indeed . i am happy though that my son are grown now and about to leave us alone ,it is both sadness and joy for a parent surely .
when i was little girl i would envy with extended families as i always wanted to have extended families with so many people to get together and share lives .my mom had one sister and one brother only like me but i had privilege to play with my cousins luckily . despite i enjoy being alone but i love big family .it looks like i have so many blessings around me when i be with them all in special occasions. my son faced fear of being only child and mentioned it often ,i am grateful he has brothers now and won't feel lonely in life during ties when he need someone close to him .

Your son has done well, and it's amazing what a phone call or two can do - so good luck to you all and hoping all goes well as I'm sure it will. Setting up the future for your second son...well done to you and your husband.

    1. thank you for best wishes dear Margaret ! it is hard to get rid from flue whether it is summer or winter :) dust and sand storms are huge source to spread this disease in summers specially ,my eldest son has brought me vacuum cleaner but it is delicate and not for dense heavy cleaning like we have here .
credit for this relief goes to my eldest son actually who keep guiding us his brother particularly otherwise we had little hope for success .On the other hand the Habib university has such a supportive and kind staff who provide help to the applicants sincerely and make impossible ,possible for them .i am thankful for them too for their tremendous support indeed.
My second son has different nature than his brother ,he is bit jolly though he has been showing good performance throughout the school years we were still concerned whether he can get admission in good universities .but thankfully he proved that despite having different nature he has insight and seriousness for studies in future ,it was hard to keep him straight on track due to his leaning for entertainment and games but he made it finally by the grace of lord ! for both of us it is like we reached on the top of the hill eventually , for his future all we can do is hope and pray and keep guiding him

  9. hope you are soon feeling better. Congratulations to your son for all his hard work and the future he has chosen, although it is disappointing for you that he didn't get the scholarship just look how much he achieved against huge competition! Losing all that weight is surprising in such a short time - I would find fasting hard and admire those who have the faith and strength to carry it through.

  10. i hope dear Betty ,i leave flue but it seems to like accompany me most of the time :) as you know i am more positive so yes the part that my younger son has not disappointed me and succeed in getting admission in one of the best university of Pakistan brings me ,all of us more happiness though reality is like mountain hard to ignore that university has tuition fee that was impossible to pay for us ,but as they say if there is a will there is a way tat nature creates for person according to his .her true intentions ,we fortunately found more than fifty percent off tuition fee that rises our hopes regarding joining such fine institution . Betty in past students we know would mostly get 80% and it was considered a huge success but now in modern time students specially from big city like Karachi are well aware and conscious about their future as they mostly work hard enough to get 90% or more ,my younger son did what he could according to his capacity i believe so no complains about it.
my younger son had classmates in school and high school who would fast regularly during Ramadan month ,he would ask each year he wants to fast but i would allow him only to few .but as you see he is 18 now ,an adult who has right to do stuff for himself so i let him fulfill his old wish to fast for the whole month . during this he many times had one meal only and fast without getting up in early morning 4am or such to eat something ,he has been always a less eater .he suffers with lack of apatite or he is much choosy i must say because he likes fried stuff and snakes and nothing else without chicken .in Ramadan he had free hand to eat less though in aftari time i tried to make him eat as much as he could after little breaks .
i think fasting is easy when one has devotion and determination ,i used to fast twenty or fifteen days till my forties ,then i started to get worst headache during fasting which would restrain me from house chores ,i had to leave fasting then.

  14. wow, love the photos and the fact you got money off the tuition and he can attend - that's great for you all. And the photos - your neighbor who is over 100,, that is impressive. I enjoyed seeing some of the family and your younger sister. I sure hope the heat doesn't affect you too much and the allergies let up. And can't ignore the fact of your son's fasting - what an amazing thing he did. I don't think I could ever do that for even five days. He looks amazing and handsome as you all are...well - u are pretty not handsome, lol.

    1. yes we are thoroughly thankful to the authorities of university who gave us hope that my son can attend the university ,it was biggest relief we ever received from any institution .the management seems consist of really kind people ,they just open the gate for my son a boy belong to small city with small vision of life and i am sure once he will enter there his vision and life will get boost for better by the grace of creator ! such a relief for parents like us who could not make their dreams come true but trying their children to do so .
ma Zehra was my neighbor in my native town ,she lives among my golden memories dear Sandy as i was fond of elderly people and i had found their conversations and stories more worthy in such young age ,all the older women would visit our house once in a day at least and share with me what others would try to avoid .ma Zehra was cousin of another older lady ( in her seventies or some probably then) they both loved me as child and friend as well .
our temps rise till fifty or above every year and in these thirty years i have become quite habitual to such extreme heat .back in my native town temperature spins around thirty to thirty eight mostly but frequent rains restrain the heat to be toxic .
my younger son is in age where he wants to experience the liberty to take decisions for himself .fasting for the whole month for his first decision that he took and i did not object because i wanted to show respect for what he decides for himself in future with full responsibility consequences .he is eighteen now and about to leave home so we are loosing him slowly to realize the sense of responsibility for himself .may be you find the term "loosing him" uncomfortable but being parents it is our responsibility to keep our child under our guidance until he is adult :)
he is handsome by the grace of lord indeed ,but i look terrible in this selfie lol yet you praised me which means you have kind heart :)

  18. How wonderful to hear that your younger son received some financial relief from Habib University, Baili! I know it will still be expensive for him to attend, but with the grace of God, you will manage it as a family. And congratulations to him also for completing his fasting during Ramadan. That cannot have been easy, as his weight loss shows.

I am happy that you were able to connect via technology with your oldest son during Eid Ul Fitar. As always, I love seeing the photos of your extended family. I can't imagine being 113 years old! Ma Zehra was certainly blessed with longevity. She has a lovely presence in your life.

I'm sorry about the sandstorms you have been experiencing. We've had a couple of dust storms in recent days, maybe an hour long each time. Both times Terry and I were downstairs and didn't realize they blew in. I was slamming windows closed, and then of course, there was dust everywhere. Nothing like what you were enduring though!

I've been hearing about the extreme heat in Pakistan and India in the past couple of weeks, and it has me very worried. I especially worry about all the physical work you have been doing in such heat. I recently read a novel by my favorite science fiction writer Kim Stanley Robinson. The book, "The Ministry for the Future," was about the impact of climate change in the near future, and it contained as much nonfiction material as fiction. It was a scary, yet oddly hopeful read. But the intense heat in your country and India has me worried about what may come. Humanity has got to get it together and tackle this potentially existential problem. Please take care, my friend. Hugs to you and love and hugs to your family!

  19. dear Louise thank you from the bottom of my heart for such kindness ,you give quite time and energy to comment on posts of your blogger friends which is strongly appreciated as it gives me sense of connectivity to with you who live in the other corner of the world ,a person of different culture and perspective, yet you make me feel important and put lot of effort to respond my simple heart talks ,no way i can thank you enough for this my friend !
oh yes despite of more than fifty percent off remaining part of the tuition fee is serious matter for us but at least we have hope now to move further ,my eldest son has to share this burden with us of course and it is the only thing that makes it possible by the grace of God !
for my eldest son it will slow the process to move towards making his dream come true but i as much we know him he keeps us ,his family on top until now ! my each breath is filled with prays for him ,may he be rewarded for all the generosity he shows to his family always ,amen!
ma Zehra is part of my childhood ,her strength ,her kindness and kindred spirit is special glitter among my memories dear Louise ,being first very caring neighbor in my childhood she lives in my heart ,may her last journey be easy for her and for all of us who are moving forward to it slowly .
your storms cannot be as bothering because of excessive rains and snowfalls in the area air is moist enough to hold particles . here due to long absence ( can be 6 to 8 months in summer ) of rains airy is extremely dry and packed with sand particles so windstorm shower all this dirt during the summer constantly until the September. With age it makes me tired soon to clean the whole house and dust off everything and every day .but again time is something that makes us used to even such annoying routine :) i am desperately waiting for when hubby retires after three years and we will move to Islamabad inshallah(hopefully) hope is most beautiful ingredient of life indeed :)

  20. dear Louise about heat , yes hubby told me during lunch time that according to latest news form weather reports temperature will rise till sixty ,i was like what ??? i put back my bite and asked again and he repeated same thing that this year extreme heat will break it's own record here and rise to 60 c . it was 50 c before .
your novel sounds really informative and how nice that despite of sharing such negative stuff writer gave Hope at the end dear Louise and i hope the hope she gave is will be real in future . Nature is ruthless particularly when she gave us gift to observe ,understand and then choose . after that it is no longer responsibility of the Nature look after us but it is us that have to realize what we are gaining and at what cost and is it worth it

  21. Belated Happy Eid wishes to you and your family, Baili, it sounded as if you and your family had a nice celebration. Sorry to read that the sand and constant cleaning has affected your health and hope you will be feeling better soon, my friend. We have not had any heat to be concerned about, yet, although it will be coming soon enough, but still not as hot as you experience in your country. Your persistence with the university officials was admirable and glad that it resulted in savings, although education costs are still expensive. It was so nice to see the photos of your extended family as well.

  22. I’m happy for you, Baili, about the warmth of family’s getting together and the achievement of your youngest son, though feel sorry for the scholarship. I pray things will get better, more tuition discount. You’re such a hard worker to have gotten ill from hard cleaning. Please take care of yourself, both from hardworking and heat wave.

  23. I hope you can get the loan for the remaining entrance fees. I see from your replies to some comments that your oldest son is also helping financially, which must be a big help and also make you very proud of his thoughtfulness. I hope your son who is about to go to university will make good use of his time there to give him a good start in his working life. Your weather there is becoming extreme and I worry about you and everyone in such heat. I hope you can get rid of that flu soon, and that you can keep comfortable in the high temperatures. Hugs, my friend.
