Hello Lovely People!
Hope and pray that you are having blessed days and favourable weather π€
It’s been more than two weeks our weather has turned extremely hot π₯΅ 45 centigrade today.
Cooking is risky task when 10 by 10 kitchen with two exhaust fans seems like an oven because of the sweating and heat π₯
Heat becomes more unbearable after sunset when walls of the house release heat they have absorbed throughout the day ☹️ππ
We are having guests every once in awhile despite such hot weather which is unusual. Yet life is blessing worth being grateful for. Our summers are really tough and tough times feel longer and difficult . With age I just pray for strength to go through this phase smoothly π
Our temperatures are spinning around 45 to 48-9 which makes it hard to sit down and read because you got a long day. I feel sad because of this! Still I am reading Prisoners Of Geography by Tim Marshal in breaks . Its first chapter is about Russia and I have read it three times until now to understand it betterπ€. Now Reading second chapter China which seems easier than compared to previous one.I am rereading it again.Book is very interesting and full of knowledge worth knowing in order to understand how geopolitics works in the world and why the countries behave the way they do . I believe book will take time to get finished because it’s details are bit complicated for me and I have to read them few times to sustain what I want to learn.
And yes a question which was springing in my mind since long but slipped away every time I would write post .
As you know that I am an emotional person . When I watch some movie or show,I feel that my empathy is sided with heroic characters. Sometimes central characters are not heroes but bad guys disguised in good character. My curiosity is if everyone feels the same way??
Or is it possible to stay neutral from start to end??
Did you realise how you feel while watching movies or shows,do you too get involved morally with characters trying to do right thing ??
I was watching Chestnut Man last night , it’s about good detectives chasing serial killers. It’s second season. The leading lady detective is killed by the criminal suddenly. I felt sad and disappointed because I thought she is the permanent character of the series. It took sometime to get out of this feeling,I had to remind myself that nothing is permanent here whether on screen or off screen.
Please try to respond my question dear friends so I can figure out if I am normal or way too emotional?
Thanks for your love and support on previous post π
I feel honoured and blessed believe me π₯Ή♥️
Health, peace and happiness to you all and to all you love ♥️π
Many years ago I found myself watching a movie about a young woman with a bad life. She made horrible choices and the people around her did the same. She met a man who truly loved her, but he had as many problems as she did. I found myself praying for them. I knew it was not real. I knew they were actors. But still. My heart ached for them and I sat in that theatre interceding for them both. π©΅ So, no, I do not think you are too emotional. Our hearts are meant to feel for others.
ReplyDeleteDear friend Sandi ,thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experience on this topic !
DeleteI really appreciate thatπ
Yes it happens while watching movies and shows and it happens in our day to day lives as well that we see people making wrong decisions.
And we feel so helpless, when they are family members or acquaintances particularly.
I believe we all go through such phases of life when we are not much wise and make mistakes often. I love how nature has set the pattern for gradual learning process for us . Nature place us at zero and let us move further step by step by learning from our own mistakes!
But when we watch movies or shows with intention of relaxation and enjoyment, we want those characters to achieve their goals and we want a happy ending. It’s mostly because we are in position to fantasise life through them .
I have suffered enormous pain in practical life by seeing loved ones ruining their lives and pushing the good advice and blessings away from them willingly.
I feel I have understood so well that why God says in holy book that If he wanted He could have created everyone equal and same. He created differences so we humans can have unique experiences and can learn to empathise with each other despite our weaknesses, knowing that we too have flaws and no one is perfect except Creator!
But when I am spectator I still see my leniency towards people trying to make things right and want them to have happiness at the end .
Though,I am 100% sure pattern of life hardly cares for this.
Sorry if I lost track dear friend
I completely have faith that we all have been created kind and loving, it’s just we loose ourselves in wrong direction and leave the clue of our true essence far behind!
I feel like years ago 'good guys' and 'bad guys' were easier to figure out on TV shows and movies. Now so many are written in shades of gray.
ReplyDeleteThanks dear friend Kathy
ReplyDeleteI appreciate you pointed out something very important here
Yes ,years back me either believed in absolute good and bad. But thankfully life has changed my mind and I am utterly grateful for my broader and enlightened perspective which makes me see life as a rainbow where each colour is beautiful and has job to serve, it brings me peace of mind and deeper understanding of life.it deepens my connection with people and everything around more meaningful and positive!
Best part is that it doesn’t make your heart stone but an ocean of love and acceptance that allows me to live life to fullest without feeling bitter towards anyone or anything.
You are able to forgive when you understand that you too are a human and not perfect in anyway
Sorry your character was killed.

DeleteI feel for you, Baili, in that heat! It would be difficult for me to endure. Good books, good movies, and good tv shows are meant to move us emotionally. Sometimes the most fascinating and memorable characters are flawed and trying to overcome their flaws. But sometimes the bad characters capture me emotionally when I try to understand what made them evil. Sometimes I think the bad characters never had a chance and wonder what I would have been like if I had been dealt similar circumstances. I read "Prisoners of Geography" a number of years ago. It was a challenging but great book. I should reread it. So many books! So little time! π. I'm rereading Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" (among other things right now). It's a fascinating exploration of good and evil and the human heart (or hobbit heart, elf heart etc.) Try to stay cool! Love and hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteDear Louise I totally agree with you that you wouldn’t be able to bear such heat and higher temperatures because your body is not accustomed to live through such weather.isn’t it another amazing gift to us among countless others that we adopt serious changes in order to survive in the life π€ I had to move to this hotter place after my marriage, it was challenging at the beginning but my body adjusted itself slowly. None of my family members want to live here because of the extreme whether . So it’s amazing how nature has equipped to face challenges of all kinds here .
DeleteThanks for sharing your insightful thoughts on this, I have realised long ago that I feel connected to heroic characters and their loss and suffering feels hurtful to me. It’s very nice to know that I am not alone in this feeling and that it’s very natural part of human nature to leaning towards good side and positive characters while watching the show or movie.
I am 56 and my mind still wonders why we are given emotions and how they drive us throughout the life.
Yes for me either it is most appealing part when flawed characters try to fix themselves. I love such inner journey most dear Louise and my main reason to find such topics compelling is because I have always tried to correct myself in things that I know are not right.
I share and curiosity about bad characters and what made them so , I have habit to keep focus on bright side of the person. I though fall in Dee disappointment and sadness to know bad characters that are pure evil and don’t intend to come into the light at all. I truly feel sad and sorry for them because I believe they probably missed most of what really life is!
I can’t say if I could have sustained my goodness or not if I had gone through severely dark circumstances.
Dear Louise you have recommended me Prisoners Of Geography and I have found it very important honestly. I think it’s a great book and people interested in learning why countries are different in their overall circumstances must read it once at least. I could have finished it long ago but it’s time I have less and I want to read it again and again until I understand what it says completely.
Best wishes for your current reading project my friend π♥️
Love and hugs π₯°π«
I think you can get very emotionally connected to characters in films and books ... Music too can have an emotional effect.
ReplyDeleteStay as cool as you can in the hot temperatures you are experiencing.
All the best Jan
Ohhhh that is way too hot where you are. So, movies and stories are supposed to pull at your emotions. What good would they be if you didn't experience some emotion while watching or reading. I have been watching series these day. I get so attached to the characters that when the series is over I feel a bit lost. Like my friends moved away. LOL I'm watching Blindspot on Netflix right now. I'm very hooked to the store and the characters. Chestnut Man is next on my list. So you are perfectly normal to feel these emotions. Or you and I are just nutty. ha ha ha ha. Try and stay cool over there.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you're too emotional. I don't go out to movies in theaters, but when I watch something exciting at home with heroic characters, I often talk to the heroes and heroines and tell them to be careful because the bad guys are after them. It's part of getting caught up in a show and the willing suspension of disbelief.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
DeleteThank you for dropping by dear Janie !
I can realise through your words that you too feel quite involved with heroic characters while watching movies π
Yes I am like you, I don’t speak via words to them but in my mind I keep giving them hints that what’s coming towards them. And this is why I felt one day as if it is normal and other people behave like this too ☺️
Yes I feel that it is part of excitement our brain drives through thrilling and suspenseful scenes and we indirectly experience everything on screen through our senses
Baili you are not alone in becoming emotionally involved with the people in a show or movie, even if they are only actors portraying a part. Like yourself, I also become very invested in what happens to a character and find myself cheering the good one on and not caring about others depending on the plot.
ReplyDeleteThe heat you described is much hotter than we will be getting this week when temperature are forecast to be in the 90sF which would be like 33C for you. And, even thougth it will not be as warm, I still dislike cooking in hot weather.
Dear Dorothy!
DeleteThanks for sharing your personal experience with me. Actually since I have developed habit of self check through long term meditation. I started to feel bit conscious whether my habit of getting involved with heroic characters is good thing or bad. I felt hesitant to put this query before my blog friends earlier but then I had no other way to know the answer so I decided to share and it’s great relief to know that almost all of us think the same way ☺️
I now have learned that feelings I have been having are natural part of our emotional system as we are basically emotional beings..
I feel happy for you dear friend and other friends who don’t have to deal with such extreme heat by the grace of God ! It has been truly a relief for our family to get chance to spend two months away in better weather thankfully. I realised that age is biggest factor in feeling the hot weather more than ever though.
Cooking is enjoyable thing for me but I can’t nor anyone else can enjoy or even want to step into kitchen during such extremely hot months. But when you have guests you have to cook anyway.
I feel the joy or sorrow of the character I am seeing at the moment. Sometimes there is anger or fear. I am like you; I am emotional. I feel it all.
ReplyDeleteThanks dear Emma
DeleteI agree maybe we all feel that connection with characters and go through various emotions they have throughout π₯°
OxalÑ o excesso de calor não lhe faça mal. Gostei de a ler.
ReplyDeleteTudo de bom.
Um beijo.
Hopefully dear Grace π€

Dear Baili, my heart goes out to you. I cannot take the extreme heat and humidity. Please make sure you drink plenty of water and stay cool. I have seen people collapsing from the heat π₯΅ π₯ here in Montreal as they become dehydrated and suffer from heat stroke.
ReplyDeleteSweet Linda thank you so much for your generous comment and kind concern ππ₯Ή
DeleteYes it happens here during extremely hot months from May to August when people get fainted and even lost their lives sometimes because of the terrible heat. July and August are very muggy months here and such sad incidents happen in these two mostly.
I try to stay indoors and dehydrated, hubby makes some special berry fruit juices and lots of watermelon consumption keeps us fresh during the day thankfully π€
Heartfelt best wishes to you π♥️
I think that it is natural to become invested in a tv series and to be upset when they kill a character. Thank god Jane Austen never felt the need :-)
