Mystery Of The Baby’s Death!

Hey dear Friends !

Sorry for not being around since few days. We had to revisit my village immediately . Actually some days back while we were sleeping my brother’s wife called and informed that something sad had happened . Almost two months ago when we have arrived in Islamabad, the eldest daughter of the my cousin (whom I have visited last year to attend the wedding ceremony of her daughter and son in the same time) called. She told she was calling from hospital where she had given birth to a healthy baby boy three days ago. She sounded very happy and excited while she invited us to her home when she would arrive home after discharge.I congratulated her and promised that we will visit her when we will come to the village. We kept our promise but the day we visited her she and her husband had gone to the hospital because baby had some health issue. We returned Islamabad after two days stay. And then few weeks later we got this sad call that baby had died at the age of one and a half and a month! We felt sad and shocked suddenly and left for the village immediately. We couldn’t attend the funeral though but being with grieving mother and grandmothers was a good feeling. I noticed that there were rumours  among the women regarding the death of the child. When I asked my cousin ( maternal grandmother of baby) reason behind it she explained during her cries that her sister (paternal grandmother of the child) had predicted that baby might not survive because he was born with condition in which he had only one wrist bone, and according to myth such babies don’t survive more than a month or some days. This was something totally unexpected and unfamiliar to me. I tried to search about it but couldn’t find a clue. Please share if anyone has some knowledge about such condition! Surprisingly when I told this to hubby he immediately agreed that yes he knew that children born with such conditions don’t survive. He said that may be inner bone structure don’t develop properly in such children unfortunately!

We returned home day before yesterday but I wasn’t feeling well enough to get back to my normal routine. I will be visiting you all from tomorrow hopefully dear friends!

Thanks for being with me 🙏

Health, peace and happiness to you all and to all you love ♥️

  1. I haven't heard of that specific myth or medical condition related to one wrist bone and survival, but it's really interesting that your husband was familiar with it. It sounds like a deeply distressing situation, and it's good you were able to be there to support them. Take your time getting back to your routine, and sending lots of peace and happiness your way.

    1. Heartfelt thanks dear Melody!
Hubby grew up in quite a large family so he might’ve heard about such things from his grandmother, aunt or mother . I couldn’t ask him what was his source but I am certain that he learned from his family members.
Being there and on time was relief honestly. Because I live about a thousand miles away from my village I have missed so many such occasions which is huge addition to my sorrow already!
      Blessings to you 🙏

    1. True dear Debra, babies are sign of hope and joy for families so it’s very painful when they come to the world for short while 😔

  5. Sorry to hear about the baby. I used Artificial Intelligence "Gemini" to research this condition: In summary a baby with only one wrist bone (or other carpal bone anomalies) needs a comprehensive medical evaluation. While the skeletal anomaly itself might not be directly life-threatening, it can be a sign of a larger, more severe syndrome that does impact survival, particularly those involving heart defects or bone marrow issues.
    Detailed information:
Associated Conditions: A thorough check is always needed because radial dysplasia can be part of a larger genetic syndrome, such as:

Holt-Oram syndrome: This affects skeletal development (especially hands, wrists, and arms) and often causes heart problems. Heart defects can be serious and impact survival.

VACTERL association: This is a group of birth defects that can affect the spine, anus, heart, trachea-esophageal fistula (connection between the windpipe and esophagus), kidneys, and limbs.

Fanconi anemia: A rare genetic disorder that impacts bone marrow, leading to decreased blood cell production and a high risk of certain cancers. This is a potentially life-threatening condition that all babies with radial dysplasia without an identifiable syndrome should be tested for.
I hope the family can deal with the sorrow.

    1. Dear John thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing this research to me . It was second time I have witnessed such death of babies and it always made me wonder why and how it happened.
Back in my village there was a woman who gave birth to five boys but none of them survived except her four or five girls. This kept my mind in awe for decades until now. So many thanks for sharing this information dear friend!🙏

On contemplating upon your research we can assume that children can born with such defects sadly which can bring immense pain to their parents and forever!
