When Both Sons Crossed The Dangerous Suspension Bridge In Hunza

Hello Sweet Hearts!

Hope beating beautifully on the rhythm of life !

Thank you for your kind and sweet words on my previous post about Hunza trip .It makes me happy dear friends that i could share my joy and adventure with you and you guys enjoyed it :)

Since we are back and has joined our daily walks and normal routine but we still feel spellbound by our trip :)

We dropped our elder son to bus station on the night of 30th of July. Being a mother it was truly a deep sense of peace and happiness to have him for more than three months with us after long time but saying goodbuye was still difficult :( It was quite more than 20 hours long journey so we booked his ticket in sleeper bus which is fresh addition to national transportation thankfully . He told his journey was comfortable . Actually Trains have become very late and many are cancelled once in a while due to different reason which makes people to take alternative and buses are best option after expensive flights.

My final test has been taken and we have got the result .According to reports my stomach 's wall (part of it has scratch like stain) and lower  part of small intestine has signs of mild erosion . Lats time doctor asked me to take new medications for two weeks and then visit again. My head feels heavy because of medicines these days but hubby stays extra alert so i don't skip any dose :(

Just want to say that reading you regularly is my personal pleasure because it makes me feel connected to my friends !

Sharing some more highlights of our trip to Hunza today.hope you will find them interesting . Despite all the path hurdle we faced i believe that   northern parts of Pakistan are worth visiting as their natural beauty and amazing geological  layout has power to grip your mind  for so long !

next day to our arrival we booked a ride for main tourist destinations ,driver plus guide took us to two famous forts ,sacred stones of buddha times ,two lacks and and at the last to the suspension bridge .it is beginning of the way which gets slopy and leads to the suspension bridge .This path is laced with different  restaurants and souvenir shops

Husaini Suspension Bridge (only this  image is from google ) is counted among most dangerous bridges throughout the world ,when we arrived it was 5 :30pm and we were very exhausted because we have spent whole day in visiting different places . bridge was quite crowded with people ,mostly youngsters . a man was providing jackets for visitors who wanted to cross on the bridge ,we noticed that many mischievous boys were shaking the side ropes of the bridge with both hands  to frighten their friends and they might found it fun but actually it was very  dangerous as river flow below was very fast and there was obvious chance of falling down because side ropes of the bridge were very thin and gap between side ropes for holding was as two people can pass through and fall down easily

both of our sons got ready to cross the bridge . i was pretty scared at heart but i hold myself from stopping them . they both wore jackets and walked away as it was nothing . and me and hubby despite the worries kept taking shots of them even if it was difficult to spot them because of much people on the bridge . I noticed not all of the visitors were crossing the bridge .many were returning from half way or more or less of it. at the beginning i felt it was so easy and fun to cross the bridge and me and hubby started to walk over but soon i was afraid because i realised that we were very tired and our minds were not as attentive as they should be to do such a challenging task. So i decided to return after walking 50 steps hardly . part of me regretted but i was satisfied with my decision . Total length of the bridge is 196 meters .here in this photo  Youngest son is returned after crossing the bridge safely by the grace of God!

elder son returned first even though he had to stop near the end of other side  while  returning and wait for his younger brother.Actually  he realised that his brother has got slow .he told that he was bit concerned because his little brother got slow before reaching the end and reason was that gap between steps was getting wider with each step close to the end. Younger son told that he got slow because gap was getting hard to step and that made him look at  the water rushing below .he felt numb for a while .but when he looked for his brother who was returning smoothly he found out his brother was  standing there for him and waiting for him to start walking again . He told it brought him back to his norm and he started walking back. we kissed both son's forehead and congratulated them as they have completed not just their walk over the dangerous bridge but has showed great support and affection towards each other at the time it was need badly .because we were very far from them unable to see or do anything! i was so emotional that later i gave big tip for this (a showing gratitude to God) at a restaurant on the way back to our car! 🥹

while kids got away on the bridge ,hubby asked me to sit he took this shot ,can you notice sign o worries in my eyes as a mother

taken by hubby when kids got to the other end of the bridge .i felt like time has slowed down and it will take ages to children to get back to us !

This was taken by me while wandering in the territory of the ancient fort .The area is spread on few acres and brilliantly managed by the authorities . tickets were pricy but worth it . i will share about it in next post dear friends!

Thank you for being with me till here!

God Bless you all and all you love!  ❤️🙏

  1. That is a VERY long and scary bridge! Your sons are young and brave! I think you did amazingly well to do 50 steps on it and then go back. I wouldn't have done ONE step, lol.

    1. dear Debra thanks for your generous words :)
so true that youth is age in which people people take things lightly ,like to take risks and enjoy such task as adventure rather thinking too much .but believe me it was one the most intense time i have ever went through as mother .
secretly i like to enjoy such things as adventure because i realise that my long term exercise and meditation has strengthen my mind to some extent . i can say this because i can still enjoy swings and tough rides with my kids and don't feel dizzy or so. but we returned because i was more concerned for hubby who was walking ahead . ithank goodness i did not let my desire to walk forward but prefer to return because i knew we were not at our mental alertness at that time

  2. Baili, I am glad that your sons made it safely across that bridge! Just from looking at the photos and reading what you wrote about the ropes would make me want to avoid even stepping on it. It was good that your son waited for his brother as looking down is not a good thing when at such a height and with rushing water below. The photo that your husband took of you is so lovely, despite the fact that you were concefrned about your sons.

    1. i so agree with you dear Dorothy that one should avoid stepping on such dangerous bridge if there is a slight sense of mental distraction whether it is fear or something else going in mind . only thing one need is a carefree child like attitude to cross it while enjoying your steps without looking below.
yes we felt so peaceful and grateful for what elder son did on bridge .we could feel how deeply it impacted on our younger son and help him to recompose from his numbness and start his walk again 🥹🙏
hubby took so many shots of his sons ,so did i ,maybe it was our way to overcome fear we were feeling at that time for our kids !

  8. Baili, I hope you will soon much better with your health.
I've seen and read about that bridge somewhere and when I saw it again and you talking about it brought back the memories. I was wondering, are those planks slippery? I went o YouTube and watched a few videos of the area you went to, so beautiful.
Your sons did well to go from one side to the other and back again.
Not always the best when we have to say goodbye to one of our sons, but he will return and thankfully we have phones to keep in touch.
    Take care.

    1. dear Margaret thank you for your kind comment . even if live in Pakistan i did not know about the bridge at all nor i had any idea that such bridges exist in our country too.though i have watched a travel video of some country once and saw bridge constructed by villagers themselves to cross other side of very deep and wide canyon .bridge looked very scary and thinking of people who had to cross it everyday for essential works made me feel terrified believe me .
yes northern areas are breathtakingly beautiful and even though i heard and read that since many years i did not know it was so true :)
yes phones and modern technology is blessing for parents living away from their children ! you too stay blessed dear friend!

  9. dear Betty thank you so much for your very sweet and kind words! i really appreciate that. no doubt bridge is extremely dangerous .when i looked at it i was shocked and amazed with the possible vulnerability of people who walk on it. i wondered who thought such idea to put people in danger just for the sake of fun because as far i know this bridge ends in the mountain straight and nowhere else to go further . there was a hanging swing to take rider on the other end but few people were using that option . most of them were choosing bridge to walk on even for some length like us .
i will feel proud what sons did and how nicely they could do it by the utter grace of God!
dear friend my stomach ulcer is chronical health condition from which i suffered for 35 or more years .it was diagnosed around 16 to17 years back and since then i was told to be cautious about my food and avoid fried and spicy food specially . i am following this advice strictly thankfully and all was going smooth until i got this allergy issue one night after arriving Islamabad and since then i am under observation because allergy was found linked to stomach problem too . recent medication is affecting my attentiveness little bit . just one or two weeks more and course will end .i think i will be back to normal self after that :) love and prayers!

    1. so very true dear Emma ,that bridge takes your breath away at first sight and i felt the same for a while .i was worried sick to see how calmly my kids were walking away on the bridge and i could not say please don't go because i knew somehow that request won't be accepted .honestly killing that excitement would have seemed sin

  11. Another lovely post. Except for your stomach troubles. I'm having some of my own so I can sympathize with you. The photos are amazing. I have to say I would NOT cross that bridge. I have a fear of heights and I would just have to stay on the other side. LOL You are so beautiful as is your family. Have a very nice day today.

  12. Baili, I'm glad that Ali takes such good care of you! I hope the meds are helping. I laughed when I read about the young boys shaking the bridge to frighten their friends. That is so typical. (And I adore young boys!) As someone who taught young boys for many years, I recognize their poor judgement. Kudos to your sons for getting over the entire bridge. How kind of your middle son to support your youngest son in crossing the bridge. I love the photo Ali took of you.

  13. dear friend Louise ! thanks for your wonderful and encouraging words always! yes meds are helping except their side affect is keeping me bit off the track .but it has end eventually and am excited to think of days when i will be free from meds side affects :)
yes youth is wonderful age where you see yourself on top and all below looks of little importance :) God's plans are for the best as with such bursting energy we can achieve so much if stay on right track :) but wisdom is crucial specially on such occasions ,we should borrow it from elders to make less mistakes because there is no coming back from some if done . our middle son won our heart as he has been considered little "dry" always but he showed that love is not about expression only but it can sit quietly in your heart and can appear and do it's job at the time of need and go back as nothing happened :) we felt so touched by his move and kindness and i am sure his younger brother will keep this in his heart forever 🥹

  16. I see a really beautiful lady sitting on a bench. Worry of a mother in those eyes? Maybe a little lol. That is a very dangerous bridge. Takes me back a few years when I crossed a very tiny version of this with my family at the time of the big flood. I wish to visit Pakistan one day. The scenery is quite beautiful.

  20. My stomach dropped just looking at those photos of the Husaini Suspension Bridge! Mountains steal my breath away every single time, yet dangling over rushing glacial water takes serious nerve. I felt your exact maternal panic watching your boys cross. Such a relief they looked out for each other when things got terrifying. Hope those new meds treat your stomach kindly soon; foggy head days are the absolute worst. Counting down the minutes until your story about that ancient fort.
