Pretty Cups , Books , Hadrian Wall And Happy Birthday !

Hello Beautiful People πŸ₯°

Hope all of you are finding goodness in life whether through big happiness or little joys πŸ™

It took us or only me probably to settle mentally here but now it feels I am actually back for which I am grateful!  Though time passed in that wonderful apartment has turned into sweet memories finally instead longing to go back πŸ˜… Thanks to my precious eldest son who gifted us those amazing moments for two beautiful months πŸ₯°

This time we visited flea markets few times due to heat first week and then excessive rains for a week later. I noticed that in three years prices of second hand things have tripled or even more sadly . It certainly affects the buyer’s capacity to purchase things of liking on reasonable prices. Honestly flea markets don’t seem for people belong to middle class anymore. I used to see foreigners occasionally in such markets buying show pieces particularly. But I realised they just asked and left the shop when couldn’t bargain with shopkeeper. I bought few cups as cups are my favourite thing to collect because they are often broken by youngest son when he washes dishes sometimes. I was happily surprised to find few cups that attracted me because of their lovely appearance. Sharing below photos I took for this post. I am curious if some of you also like to collect cups of tea mugs during trips to different areas ?  I also bought books but this time only two books. I thought if we will be staying in Islamabad for extended periods I will try to locate some library nearby . Below I have shared a wonderful photo shared by Dear Friend Sue from Scotland. Sue and John are visiting Scotland with her truly amazing sister and her husband who live in Canada. Sue’s sister has cancer which was really a heartbreaking news ! But she instead staying at home and grieving decided to take trips to different European countries ,isn’t it very inspiring dear friends πŸ₯ΉπŸ₯° I really appreciate such level of strength and wisdom πŸ€—πŸ₯°♥️πŸ™  As I often say things we can’t control don’t worth wasting time on. So we should embrace the every moment of life gratefully because it’s gift just for once only πŸ€—♥️

The last photo is of my precious baby, my eldest son who’s birthday is today πŸ₯°πŸ™♥️  Happy Birthday to my precious Son πŸ™♥️Hope you will enjoy my simple joys♥️πŸ™

Sorry I couldn’t straighten out this photo, first book is written by British author Robert Lomas , I found it’s introductory lines appealing.hope it will be interesting to read. Second book is written by Turkish writer Elif Shafak ,I have read two books and I really enjoyed them .it’s fiction and I feel it also won’t disappoint me.

These pretty bowls cost  5. 28 dollars that are 1500 rupees here ,so expensive,I had bought plates of such quality in less than half price three years back :(

Each cup cost 200 rupees Pakistani and I didn’t turned them in dollars so you just make a guess please
My most favourite one with lush green and flowers and cute rabbit πŸ€—πŸ₯°♥️

Opposite side of same cup above ♥️

Both sides of the same cup this and below

I love stories and this cups tells one πŸ€—♥️

I loved how the theme of this cup describes grandmother,I wish I could gift it to mine

These two  hanging plates cost 1000 and I bet if it wasn’t hubby the shopkeeper would have given me on double as he started first. I could never learn how to bargain. Hubby says I am on the other side instead of his.this sounds serious accusation ☹️

I love paintings that display village life and this is the only reason I insisted to buy them,I know I can never afford to buy actual paintings in my life. The simplicity is the real beauty and we lost it sadly!

Sue and her dear sister climbed the toughest and highest part of Hadrian’s wall in Scotland and this is so sweet of her to send me the picture because last time I have commented on her  video  that she seemed little breathless . So she shared this wonderful photo of their accomplishment πŸ₯°πŸ‘

  3. Oh, such beautiful cups and plates! Awesome about your friend on her trip, as well..and of course, I am adoring your son's photo. I hope you are having a beautiful August! Thank you so much for reading and your comments. I greatly appreciate your input.

Yes, things are getting expensive here, too. 5 Below is more like 8 and above these days. Prices just keep getting higher. Even at the Farmer's market prices are steep. Part of it has to do with how much the vendor has to pay to have a table at the place.

All the best to this month and beyond. Wishing you many happy moments to come.

I enjoy your stories generally πŸ‘Œ♥️

Our weather even it’s 40 plus c is still bearable within the walls at least. And it’s because rains are continued in surrounding parts and northern areas as well which makes heat feel low 😊

I am not sure about history but according to my observation throughout the adult life I have never seen inflation taking such huge jump which it was taken in previous three to four years. It has made majority of population insane honestly but no one seems to take notice sitting in parliament ☹️πŸ˜’

  7. Hello Baili, I like your post. I do enjoy going to the thrift stores or second hand stores but don't get there so often. These days the prices are often more than buying brand new. However today I did go and I bought a leather bag for carrying small things when shopping and 2 books, like you! I'm happy for you that you were able to find two books to read and that you'll try to locate a library in Islamabad. I do hope it works out for you as I know you will enjoy spending time in a book. Happy birthday to your 'baby' boy. He looks like he is enjoying a tasty birthday meal.

Thank you for sweet words πŸ™

To be honest I have been noticing inflation rise since decades but recent jump felt so high and caused unrest among people greatly. Government is taking heavy loans from IMF which is forcing authorities to rise prices of everything, rise in electricity bills and petroleum makes everything too expensive for common consumers. Such cold and rude behaviour of government makes people unhappy and desperate and they go for crimes easily. We have been listening about theft that were not done ever in past. This is serious and dangerous situation but authorities don’t care.
Oh yes I find solace in reading specially in winter season which gives us chance to stay sane and enjoy days. I am happy you could go to thrift store and found two books to read . I bet you have libraries around too as you seem to live in advanced city πŸ€— do you visit library sometimes dear Joyful ?
I hope I can find one there so I can quit buying books as they are getting expensive day by day ☹️
You are such a generous hearted dear friend πŸ₯° no matter how old children grow they stay babies for parents, don’t they πŸ₯°
Oh sorry if I didn’t mention,he isn’t having birthday meal in the picture here . The photo was taken around two weeks ago when he has moved to his own house from rented apartment and he and Gabi were having lunch after exhausting shifting process. Yesterday I couldn’t find any other recent photo to share in post on his birthday so I selected this one hurriedly πŸ˜…
I hope he doesn’t mind that lol

    2. Hi dear Baili, Thank you for your very kind words toward me. I do appreciate it. Yes, it's so true about the rising costs of everything. It has become very hard to live life as before and most of us have to try and find savings anywhere we can to make the funds go farther.

I haven't started reading my novel from the thrift store yet as I currently have several borrowed books from the library. The other book I bought is a cook book with many coloured photos. I don't follow recipes so often but flipping through the pages and photos, I get some ideas about how to create dishes that are different from what we normally eat. Cooking a variety of meals is always challenging and I am one who doesn't like to eat the same thing all he time. I've become spoiled that way. I do in fact visit the library each and every week to return books I've borrowed and to pick up new ones. I can walk there and I do it once or twice a week for a bit of exercise and also to run my errands. The city has many libraries and usually one in every neighbourhood plus the big library downtown which I only go to when there is a public event. I do hope you can find a library so you don't have to pay for books. I'm very grateful for being able to borrow many books from our local libraries and it has certainly saved me a bunch of money over the years.

I don't have any 'babies' myself but my late sister had two children who are now fully grown. They are like my own and I worry about them and pray for them just as any mother would. My sister would be happy to know that as it was always her wish that I would be very close to her children. I'm happy to hear your son and Gabi have completed the move. I know it's a very tiring process and so they earned their lunch afterward.

    3. Dear Joyful thank you for revisiting and sharing your valued thoughts with me πŸ₯°πŸ™

This is nice to know that you have several libraries around you from where you get your free books πŸ€—
What a facility my friend πŸ‘
I grew up in villages where we went to school in town close by.school had library books luckily the collection of books was dense and authentic. Best books of literature from very popular writers old and new. Almost all types of books were available that a growing student must need . I still feel so grateful for such opportunity. Here in the small city where I live since thirty three years after my marriage I never went to local library because women don’t go to library here, yes conservative environment ☹️
So I keep buying few whenever I visit Islamabad or Karachi.
How amazing that main library hold public events as well. Never heard such thing before.
Heartfelt thanks for your lovely words about my children dear friend. To love children a woman don’t need to be a mother herself but she only needs to have a loving heart πŸ₯ΉπŸ₯°♥️
You certainly have one loving heart dear Joyful and this makes you a great aunt and mom πŸ₯°πŸ™

  8. Happy Birthday to your eldest son, my how time flies Baili, it only seems the other day he was leaving to go and study away from home.
I like your cups and plates and I believe at our charity shops where they sell clothing and all kinds of things the prices have gone up dramatically and people say it's cheaper sometimes to buy new clothes at the shops. Well some shops.

  9. Heartfelt thanks for lovely words dear Margaret πŸ₯°πŸ™

Yes time is something strange and puzzling, fast enough to leave us behind before we can settle in the moment πŸ₯Ή
Eldest son left home in 2016 ,first for the university and then he went to Germany after spending four to five years there. We had no idea he will be moving to London or have his own place to actually stay there. Life is series of happy and sad things. No one else can be happy for him more than us but it’s reality that our hearts are bit dim because he won’t be around for always. Dear Margaret parents are caretakers provided by Nature to nurture children and then let them go to create their own world. It’s a natural way of happiness that we have fulfilled our duties faithfully by the grace of God which keeps us peaceful at heart and it matters only!

Oh yes situation is exactly same here as well, buying new is cheaper and I wonder what is the point in opening these markets anymore?
I never bought clothes for myself from flea markets except once many years ago I had bought some trousers and shirts but to give away. Hubby buys trousers regularly since some time as they are easy to carry in hot weather rather than traditional shalwar which is wide and heavy to carry. But we buy warm clothes for winter some times because they are long lasting though it happens rarely due to no proper cold weather here .

  10. Happy birthday to your sweet boy, Baili. You must be so proud of him! He is a credit to his wonderful parents.

  14. God bless Sue. I pray she is healed while seeing all the wonderful sites of Scotland and the world. 🩡 I looked up the book by Lomas because I recognized the symbol on the front. If you want to know the origins of Jesus and more about Him you can read the Gospels (the books Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in the Bible). Many Christians do not support the group Lomas is involved in. I think it is wrong. (Just to let you know a different perspective.)

I completely agree that being a human eager to learn we should not avoid things that support our own beliefs and faith. I think such mentality is narrow where light cannot approach or we fear to be wrong. I strongly believe in divine force governing everything in the world. Rest is creation of human perception and wish to be composed as society which is not bad at all. I believe that foundation of all such religious concepts lead towards Divine Creator who has created universe and everything within it. Therefore I would like to read this book with open mind and heart πŸ€—♥️

  24. Hello, Dear Baili, I am catching up with you after my computer went down and I was offline for a while.
First of all, I want to wish a very happy 32nd birthday to your precious son and hope he has a wonderful year ahead. Isn't it strange that our children are now almost older than we are? (smile:)
I scrolled down to read your last post and see your nice photos of your time in Islamabad. That was very generous of your son to help you escape the heat and have a nice vacation. So nice to meet up with your sister. Lovely family photos you have shared.
I love your new teacups and dishes. As you know, I am a collector of pretty dishes and I think you can never have enough. I agree with you that flea-markets are getting expensive now, and it is becoming more difficult to find things at a reasonable price.
I have a Beatrix Potter plate similar to your teacup. They are very collectable here, and
    hard to find.
It is very inspiring to see your friend and her sister making the best of their time together, but also very sad. You are right that we should all make the most of each day and our precious time together.
I hope that the weather cools down soon, and all of our prayers help those who need them the most.
Sending hugs and blessings, my friend.

  26. Belated πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‰ birthday wishes to your son, Baili, and fellow bloggers know what a caring and thoughtful person he is thanks to your sharing about all he has done for his parents and siblings. You are correct in saying that flea market and even thrift store prices have risen in recent years as I have seen the same here. There is not one thing I currently collect, although many years ago, I did have a small collection of old box-type cameras all of which have since been sold to others.

  28. Belated birthday to your oldest son, Baili! Not only is he a wonderful human being, but he is really handsome! I enjoyed seeing all the lovely dishes you bought at the flea markets. I have beautiful family teacups and plates that I cherish, as well as plates that I have bought. Now I'm faced with decreasing our belongings as we continue to unpack. It's really hard! It's wonderful that Sue and her sister were able to go hiking in Scotland. Hopefully, the sister will be able to overcome her cancer. My sister Donnie is still dealing with it. She went through a difficult couple of years, but now her drugs are working and she's managing it. I will remember Sue' sister in my prayers. Much love to you!
