If you remember i had mentioned few months back that my younger son was is applying in various national universities .I was trying to assist him in his task so these last few months were intensely busy for both of us particularly and for all of us as family as because of pandemic everything was upside down specially students were effected so badly due to closing of schools. But honestly i could not let my son take this easy and just waste time in net surfing . I kept him awake and aware that he must prepare gradually for entry tests as things can change anytime and universities can open for application process. And it happened finally some months ago though i don't know how we missed two universities that were our main target one Fast university where my eldest son studied his bachelors and second IBA University which has good ranking in the Pakistan. When we tried to apply their website mentioned semester of spring 2022 have already started surprisingly. Habib University where my younger son got selected now after his second try was not something we could think of at all . My eldest son recommended Habib University to us as according to him it was best in the Whole state of Pakistan though one of the most expensive at the same time. The one semester fee of Habib university is same as My husband's six months salary so despite we applied we were not hoping (nor wanting secretly me specially) to get selection but it happened and after more than two weeks my younger son was informed he has secured a seat in Habib university . It was unexpected success that made us both happy and worried at same time as we know we are not milliners to pay such high tuition fee ,even my eldest son cannot because he himself is in struggling stage of his life and has so much to do.
Anyway me and my younger son went to Karachi to attend the joining ceremony and get offer letter. Hubby could not go because he had exams going under his conduction. What i saw there was enough to make me think gratefully and positively despite of my all concerns. From our first step to till our last step in the university everything was so nice and welcoming .Staff particularly seemed to attend each and every participant with proper protocol. It helped me to get information about how we can have scholarship for my younger son. According to them we will receive a call from university within ten days that will inform us what kind of scholarship is available for our son .We had applied for merit scholarship earlier but staff told that competition is tough so we should apply for financial help too which we are doing though documentation is taking quite time ,let's see what happens next. Sharing some glimpse of the Habib university tat i picked from net as my younger son did not let me take photos because he though it was inappropriate to take images while campus tour which i don't feel to agree as we were told by staff we can take images if we want to .I could not find pictures compared to what elegance and diversity i saw while visiting in the building .And it makes me more upset . But hope you will enjoy the glimpse .
from above build of Habib university can look like puzzling labyrinth but while visiting inside i found tat elegance ,comfort ,ease and inspiration are main ingredients of infra structure where student can study and groom smoothly by interacting each other and exploring their hidden talents as university provides numerous opportunities for students to make their dream come true exquisitely
on left is cafeteria i think and on right is library where silence was dense
What a beautiful university campus! Congratulations to your son for being accepted there! I hope he can get a good scholarship to offset the tuition fees. University is such an expensive proposition these days, but a good education is always worth it in the long run!
ReplyDeletethank you dear Debra
Deleteyou and i both know that study and treatment is something everyone cannot afford here whether it's my country or yours ,but it is also good that young people are provoked to work hard in life if they want to study though same does not apply for the being treated in the hospital .
when our eldest son got scholarship it was first thing in our life that added knowledge to us as parents that even kids from middle class can go for higher studies if are passionate about their dreams and it happens in real life like ours.but i remember that when once my eldest son who had many friends from rich or better than us economically said us that we should have save for his future and it hurt us lot because only we knew how we moved further in life gradually and if there was even a little way to "save" we would have surly .later my eldest son apologized that he was emotional when he said so and he know if it was in our hands we have done this something.
unlike him my younger son was lucky that while was growing up we had house though we constantly had to save some money to "better" it slowly because when we built it with very little saving and three big loans it was still made with least appropriate material ,in these sixteen years after moving here we renovated almost whole house including the foundation of each wall of it,and still our "male guest room" and front wall of the front yard is pending .hubby was saving little to renovate it from some years but we knew our younger son had to go to university and we should see if this little saving has better use .
we hope that our younger son will work hard and keep his moral high as student if got into the campus once
Congrats!
ReplyDeletethank you dear Sandi
DeleteWhat a great honor for your son. It is a beautiful campus. I have even heard of the University here in the US. I pray that a huge scholarship comes through for him. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeletehow nice you have heard about this university in US dear Nichole ,in the documentary we were told that Habib University has alliance with some universities in US and few other countries and student exchange programs are offered to the students .my younger is intelligent and smart but being from area where kids have no opportunity to groom mentally or physically makes him bit lazy ,he goes gym fondly though but it is not enough .like all others kids of his age he needs proper environment to explore his inner skills and bring them forth to live better life and benefit all around him
DeleteWonderful news about your son’s acceptance at university and I hope there’s great news soon about the scholarship!
ReplyDeletewe too are hoping with prayful hearts dear Marie .let's see what destiny has for us ,whatever it is it is our responsibility to accept it and move further with motivation and undefeated will power :)

ReplyDeletethank you dear Martha
Deletebest wishes to you and loved ones!
That is exciting news, baili! I hope your son recognizes the opportunity that lies in front of him and makes the most of it. I hope he is able to get help with the cost of his education; it's an investment in the rest of his life. I also hope he realizes the part you have played in his success so far - if not today, then as he matures he surely will realize it. The university has a unique and beautiful campus. Wouldn't you love to go there yourself? I would!
ReplyDeletedear Jenny my younger son has been proving himself a different person than my eldest son which is so natural , my eldest son said many times that his younger brother is smarter than him but only smartness is not enough ,my younger son has been securing first positions in his school but in matric he could not get grades that were target so his father made him redo his exams because to get admission in better universities good grades are most important .he scored 80 plus then thankfully . he is intelligent but bit lazy and needs to be pushed and we understand him because he has all friends who are okay have same attitude and no inspiration from them for performing better academically .so here starts my job to keep reminding him that if he want to achieve something better he must work hard and don't look at others who going to stay in this small city though you are free to make choice if you are okay with it you can relax and move slowly and see what life has for you .
Deleteit is always his own decision to work hard but than he distracts and i have to remind him . i think my job ends now by the grace of God finally and rest further is upon his own will power and dear Creator !
yes we have been sharing some sweet and sour memories but he knows that after each yelling i would go to him ,hug him tightly ( whether he likes or not) and kiss his forehead until i would make him smile and feel peace ,than i would sit close and explain reason (reminder) why i am so much concerned .than we both be happy with each other eventually and i would get back to my chores with glittering eyes (tears of joy and sorrow both ,sorrow for i wish i did not have to be strict ).
i am sure later in life when i am not around he will surly realize what i did for him (my guess) .
oh i am starving for something like this :) yes i would love to join university if i can in this part of age to study neuroscience or physics can this happen for real ????
Congratulation to your son! Getting into college isn't easy, and navigating the finances is even harder.
ReplyDeletethank you dear Kathy
Deleteyes higher education is dream for middle class like us .i though feel happy that students with brighter minds have chance to get it

Congratulations go to both your son for his acceptance and to you, Baili, for helping him with this achievement. You know the value of education and surely your son will see the importance as well. I will be hoping that a scholarship comes to him. Does he know what area of study he would like to pursue?
ReplyDeletethank you dear Dorothy !
Deleteyes he has chosen the same area like his elder brother "computer science" though what he will select further to stick with i don't know

Thank you dear Jan!
DeleteCongratulations to your son, I wish him well xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your son, Baili! I've been reading about Habib University online. I'm so excited for your son! What an amazing opportunity for him!
ReplyDeleteThe university has a beautiful building and campus. I think its emphasis on Yohsin, thoughtful self-cultivation, is really important for developing minds and responsible citizens. I love that its university colors of yellow and purple stand for excellence and service. Small universities with a low faculty to student ratio give students an awesome opportunity for individual learning, help, and guidance. You can't beat that!
How I wish you could have had such an opportunity with your curious and intelligent mind, Baili! But, if you can't attend, cheer's for your son's opportunity. I know that means a great, great deal to you. Maybe he can get one of the tops scholarships.
It has been my experience that you get out of university what you put into it. Each course is a chance to learn and grow, if you study and work hard and are not afraid to ask questions. And it looks like the university has some great extracurricular clubs as well. It's important to do more than study. I'd be heading right for the HU Debate Union, because my father, brother, and I loved debating.
I will pray that everything works out for your son, Baili! Give him a big congratulatory hug for me! I'm rooting for him!
a heartfelt thank you for this lovely kind comment dear Louise !it is hard to define how much happy i feel when any of my blogger friend says things as warmly ,that makes my heart melt and glitter in my eyes :)
ReplyDeletemy son is thanking you from the bottom of his heart for your generosity !
Yes Habib university is though newly born (2014) but becoming an idol for the students from throughout the country .my eldest son recommended it as he wanted best for his younger brother .i too found it very impressive with nicely structured and so many facilities offered to students . despite of really heavy fees we have accepted the admission offer .i hope things go nicely and my son can prove himself a hard working and efficient student .
i could not scratch out of my heart the dream for more learning despite extreme business as house wife ,if in next few years my youngest son also leave for studies within or out of the country and at this part of age i will still find some university to offer what i want to learn i think i will do it ( life is the condition though :)
Yay ~ you should never scratch yours dreams out of your heart, Baili! I'm thrilled to hear that you are hoping to go university when you are an empty-nester. When I lived in California in the 1970s, the University of California at Irvine was a couple of miles down the street. I remember a woman graduating with her B.A. in English at ninety-six! I thought that was amazing ~ So what if she was 96? That was her dream and she accomplished it. Brian May, of the band Queen, earned his Ph.D. in astrophysics when he was sixty. People can learn at any age, whether it's a college course or two or a whole degree. Of course, we never know what life will throw at us, but I believe as long as we're alive, we can hope in our dreams and learn. So fingers crossed for you!
Deletethank you for being incredibly kind and encouraging always dear Louise !
ReplyDeletewow the lady at ninety six did her bachelors and brain won his trophy for astrophysics that is amazing and gives me hope to learn more if i can in future .you are blessing to your friends my friend !!!!!!!!!!!
