Use Your (Both) Brain Please

Our May this year remained mild surprisingly and i am really grateful for this.It is impossible though still i hope rest summer will pass similarly.Strong winds and partially clouds appear and then disappear though northern areas including my native village getting fair amount of rains time to time.I had spent almost 15 years of my life in my native village and thirty here in this sandy dry plain area so i am pretty habitual of weather here now thankfully.

On 17th of May me and hubby received our first dose of vaccination.I was surprised to see that almost half of people had come to have second dose. When i mentioned this to hubby he told that vaccination started in February and it was only for people upto sixty. It is for up to fifty now.Arrangements by authorities were satisfactory specially cleanliness ,cooling system and the way so many people were being managed. It took us almost one hour to be free.Next dose will be in  August .I feel only slight swelling and little bit of pain on the place of injection when i touch it.

I could not rejoin my routine of learning back until now after Eid. I am still having guests which is pleasing indeed specially when it is sign of  nice weather too .Usually when from May to September heat is extreme people avoid outdoors and visiting relatives. I am an introvert basically but i feel since my parents died i like family gatherings more.Meeting people familiar to my parents calms me somehow.Joy that comes with sense of harmony and oneness is another gift that i have been receiving through my changing and deepening  understanding  of life.

I was on page 230 of book Brain and Personality by William Hanna Thomson .Only 1005 pages have left.I am truly happy that i came across to know and read this book.It was purely a read that i needed to understand how human brain works and how it is related to it's mind or thoughts.I think it is a master piece and astonishingly detailed work of author regarding such delicate and technical topic !

I think this must be part of studies so student can learn in early age that how they can do wonders by their most precious gift Brain !

The first striking thing to learn for me was that we don't use our brain the way it should be used normally .Normally means ,according to author we are given two brains on both sides just like hands ,legs ,eyes etc but we use only one side of brain our entire life. And because one side of brain is responsible to function other side of body so once we choose one side and stick with it whole life in case of accident if our one side brain is injured ,other is Unable to function other part of  body because it had no training for this.

I want to write so much but i don't want to make post long and bore but believe me this book is worth reading by each of us at least once in life because information it provides are Base and really easential for healthy living.

Author mentioned Helen Keller who was dumb and deaf and blind yet she when she found way of learning (touch) she acquired and  achieved  high rank in society through only one thing that matters

"Will Power"yes author who was physician himself said that his study of human physical  brain shows that our brains are physically not different than other animals except grey matter and it is only one thing that makes our grey matter thick and it is will power and then practice that creates shelves for new learning gradually .

When after my father died i started to recite or meditate in 2011 i had no idea i was being shown a new way and better vision for life ,I would sit and read our holy book just to comfort my heart with thought that only this way i can feel close to my Creator and i can pray for my father to have better place in next world.Later when my mother died too within few months my stay with holy book got longer and my meditation deeper. It began with search of peace of mind.

Time passed and my habit of meditation became center  point of my each  day.The day i would miss it i would feel lost.It was addiction of the Sense of His closeness .During my reading i felt that words are dimming slowly. I got up threw some water in my eyes ,rubbed them slowly and started to read again but words were still fogy. Then i closed my left eye ,i found words visible and clear.I next time closed my left right eye and saw with left.I could not see words but only lines .I mindlessly started to put my finger on my right eye and try to see with my left ,after few days words started to appear little bit and then got clear and clearer within months and years. Now my left eye sees better than right one.

I had no idea that i was activating my right side of brain by doing so.But with  reading this book i am able to comprehend what happened exactly and what i can do .By practicing this i  also understood that my imagination became amazingly rich and deeper than before as it belongs to right side of the brain.

Since i learnt more about human brain capacity and activity i am excited that i can learn things that were monstrous to me before like math.I don't know my own brain capacity as an old woman of fifty but what i know best is my will power is not weak and that my desire for learning can help lot in this !

Thank you precious friend for bearing with me! I really appreciate your kindness and generosity as blogger friend that encourages me always to share my simple stupid stuff with you :)

please  keep taking great care of yourself as each of you is a unique gift to this world !

God Bless You All!!!

  1. thats interesting about the left/right brain - I can write/draw/use a knife and scissors with either hand (I think its called ambidextrous) wonder what that says about my brain!

    1. According to author we decide what side of brain we will choose with our first move when as a baby we start to use our hand to touch anything. But our genetic chain also plays most important role in it.ince we do the regular practice makes one side of brain habitual and really quick and expert in this.
How amazing you can use your both hands even with knife. I can't use knife finely with left hand .you are special :)

  2. We have our first vaccination here as well. It will be a few months before we get the second however.

I believe we only use a fraction of our brain’s capacity. Imagine the good which could be done in the world if we could maximize our brain’s capacity. Or the evil, which is the scary part.

    1. Speaking scientifically yes I too felt years ago that our brain is designed to explore secrets of the universe and therefore it is given capacity equal to it like question paper and answer sheet.
Though our distraction from real matters to other useless issues has lessened the speed of the unfolding process this answer sheet. Most probably we have all the knowledge installed within our brain and all we have to do is match the data outside with it .
If begin to train our brains I think our capacity to face cleverer evil will grow equality. As observing matter scientifically reveals that negative or positive both energies are here to serve some specific purpose .

  4. It's true! We humans do tend to favour either our right side of the brain (artistic, intuitive, unstructured) or our left side (logical, business oriented, rational), but it is important to a balanced life to try to use both. I'm waiting for my second vaccine shot too. Maybe by the end of June, if I'm lucky.

    1. So true about keeping balance dear Debra I believe balance is most important and basic principle of nature. Reason behind giving each main organ as pair seems Balance above all.

Where we ignore it we loose track that could have led us to correct direction .
      Best wishes for vaccination!

  5. Really enjoyed your post. LIke you, when my mom died in 1985 i started meditating and continued with it for the most part but also along with that have been an avid reader of anything to do with spirituality (not necessarily religion). I start my day every day with time for contemplation, reading and meditation. Anyway, so interesting to read about the brain and what you wrote ..and also I am going to look up on google for the book.

    1. Sometimes goodness rises out of things or circumstances most painful to us dear Sandy.

It happened often with me ,and I believe it is because I longed for divine presence instead of complaining or mourning. My faith in this reality never shaked that One who has created me will show me way to survive and it became true each time.
If it is miracle, only undefeated faith make it happen.

  7. I've always been curious about brain function as I was a teacher. If we have some understanding of brain function we will be able to modify our teaching strategy so the kids learn more efficiently. You are reading a very interesting book.

    1. we are super than other animals because we more part of our brain as science says dear Red and if we keep pondering how far we can go it will be great achievement as humans and i think this should be our priority above everything else because brain works like torch that throws light and shows way ,the more powerful it is the better we can see

That's what I try to transmit to my daughters.

  11. So pleased to hear you got your first vaccine! My husband and I are eagerly awaiting our second one. The brain is really fascinating. We still don't know enough about it!

  12. Thank you for this interesting topic, Baili. Our left brain seems to be dominant and can interfere the work of right brain. When I photograph, I take intuitionally out of my heart. In general, women can juggle various works at the same time, while men tend to focus on one thing, which would probably mean right and left hemispheres of brain is connected well in women. For ordinary people, mathematics is logical thinking of left brain. But interestingly some mathematicians see beauty forms in equations., that is, equation of math is beauty in their brains. Good for you about vaccine. My husband had the first jab today and the second in three weeks. Mine will be finished end of June. Keep smiling, keep learning, Baili.

  13. thank you for such nice comment dear Yoko !

i am stunned with you knowledge about brain ,i am not well learned though my personal experience that i mentioned in this post about left eye usage during recitation helped me understand that since i do that my left side brain activated and seems more active and my approach to different things proving it right .
my best wishes for your next dose of vaccination :)

    1. how nice that Grace has got both doses of her vaccination dear Anna ,i can understand your concern for your mother as a daughter and i can also understand how your mother must be thinking of you all the time specially in hard times like these .
it strengthens my hope that in future human brain will be used in better way and greater way hopefully and therefore i am so positive about survival of human spice throughout all possible challenges in future .
for me human brain is always most amazing gift of creator and i think the deeper we will know it the better we will use it and this is what matters most

  17. I am so glad that you have had the opportunity to get your first vaccine.

It has been rolled out in age groups over here (England) too. I have been lucky enough to have had my second vaccine last week.

  18. Dearest Baili, how your wonderful posts always enrich my life!😊😊
I had never heard of this book, but after all you have said about it I would now like to read it myself. There is so much I don't understand about my brain. I do find that meditating helps me to see things more calmly and clearly, but I haven't been as committed to it as I should have been recently. I do suffer from stress a lot more when I don't meditate. I must become much more dedicated to it!
I have recently received my second Covid jab. Like you, I had a stiff arm for a day or so with the first dose...and then no stiff arm with the second one, but a headache that lasted a few days. I am so glad you are having yours done now.😊😊
Thank you so much, my dear dear friend...for your kind and thoughtful comment on my blog. I truly appreciate it from the depths of my heart.😊😊

Have a lovely day...and stay safe, my dear friend🙏🙏

    Much love and hugs ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

  19. Not only was I happy for you and your husband to have received your first vaccine, Baili, but also that you only had a sore arm. The same was true for my husband and myself but only after the second shot. I think that many of us, myself included, do not nearly use all the brain power possible. You are so wise to keep on learning as much as you can no matter what age we are it's a good thing to do.

  21. August is nearly here, Baili! I'll be so happy when you and your husband get your second shot. especially now when the Delta variant is spreading. I had a flu-like reaction to the vaccine both times, but that was way, way better than catching Covid!!! I'm proud of you for persisting in learning about whatever fascinates you! You are never too old to learn and to love learning. 👏👏👏🥰
